Ambreen grew up in Pakistan, navigating financial hardship and life with a physical disability. She had a skill and determination, but she needed the tools to turn her passion into a livelihood.

Through our Thriving Futures programme, funded by the Standard Chartered , she did exactly that. Today, she runs her own business, contributes to her family, and hopes to train other young women with the skills that changed her life.

Economic independence belongs to everyone.

In Pakistan, mental health remains a silent crisis. Millions face mental health challenges, yet stigma and limited access to services mean that many never receive the support they need.

At the British Asian Trust, with support from the Vitol Foundation and the CareTech Foundation, we worked with partners including Taskeen Health Initiative, Sehat Kahani App , and the Global Institute of Human Development to integrate mental health support into primary healthcare and community systems across Pakistan.

20/05/2026

After four impactful years, we were proud to mark the closing event of the Integration of Mental Health into Primary Care programme implemented across Pakistan.

Together with our partners Taskeen, Sehat Kahani App and Global Institute of Human Development, we achieved meaningful impact:
✨128,000+ people screened for mental health conditions
✨70,000+ individuals accessed community-based mental health services
✨4,000+ people supported through helpline services
✨400+ frontline workers trained across Pakistan

Funded by the Foundation and the CareTech Foundation , this programme brought together government, civil society, and private sector partners to help transform access to mental health support across communities in Pakistan.

We were honoured to be joined at the closing event by Sarah Jeffery from Vitol Foundation and Ms. Mariam Durrani from CareTech Foundation, whose support and commitment have been instrumental throughout this journey.

This programme is a reminder that when communities have access to the right support, mental health care can become accessible, inclusive, and transformative. Together, we can build a future where no one has to struggle in silence.

Here are some of the endangered species we are working to protect, alongside the people who share their habitats. The future we're building is one of true coexistence between people and wildlife.

Since 2020, we have:
🌿 Monitored and safeguarded over 1.3 million acres of habitat
πŸ“š Educated over 150,000 people in conservation and coexistence
🐾 Reached over 45 different species

Bangladesh is redefining its climate narrative, from vulnerability to a hub of innovation. This Earth Day, under the theme β€œOur Power, Our Planet,” it’s a powerful reminder that the solutions to our biggest challenges are already being created, often by those closest to the impact.

Across Bangladesh, local entrepreneurs are developing practical, scalable solutions, from smarter weather intelligence for farmers to transforming textile waste into sustainable packaging. These innovations are not only building resilience locally but offering lessons for the world.

British Asian Trust are proud to support and scale these ventures through the Climate Innovation Fund, create lasting impact across South Asia and beyond.

From building and exiting major businesses to backing bold ideas through strategic giving, Shalni and Simon Arora shared an unfiltered conversation with our CEO Hitan Mehta.

As Vice-Chair of the British Asian Trust and founder of the Savannah Wisdom Foundation, Shalni, alongside entrepreneur and former CEO of B&M, Simon Arora, explored how entrepreneurial success, philanthropy, and strong family values can intersect to create meaningful, lasting social change during our recent event.

Their discussion challenged us to think beyond conventional giving, advocating for a focus on systemic change and impact-led philanthropy. Discover their insights on "ruthless clarity," challenging traditional giving and the immense potential of the British Asian diaspora.
