I’m proposing a practical change to fix this.
If Labour wins in May, we will introduce a new Local Development Order to make it easier for residents in flats to install double glazing and without the need for planning permission in many cases. 🪟
We’ll work closely with residents and heritage groups 🤝 to get the balance right, protecting Westminster’s character while making life better for the people who live here. 🏛️

It was great to visit Barrie Taylor House on Carlton Vale in Maida Vale today and see that the flats are almost ready. There will be 65 council flats for older people who can live independently but who need support to manage. All the care will be provided in house and there is also a great cafe in the building to serve both the residents and the local community. And 22 general needs council flats as well. All the flats are decorated to a high standard - an example of a wheelchair accessible flat below.
