Introducing the Theme Rapporteur for our 65th Congress!

We are pleased to announce that Deputy Minister Chen Ming-Chi of Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs will serve as the Theme Rapporteur for LI's 65th Congress.

Under the theme “Building Resilient Democracies for a Secure Future,” Deputy Minister Chen will bring a Taiwanese perspective to a global conversation on democratic resilience, security and international cooperation.

On 5 November in Taipei, he will present a theme resolution to Congress delegates, followed by a discussion and debate exploring the challenges facing liberal democracies and how we can strengthen their resilience in an increasingly uncertain world.

We look forward to welcoming Deputy Minister Chen and hearing his contribution to the global liberal conversation.

Liberal International mourns the passing of H.E. Sidya Touré, former Prime Minister of Guinea and leader of our member party, UFR.

A distinguished statesman and committed liberal, he championed democratic values, regional cooperation and stronger ties between Africa and Europe.

From disinformation and cyber operations to economic coercion, political extremism and conflict, the threats confronting liberal democracies are evolving. Meeting these challenges requires renewed international cooperation and a shared vision for the future.
