An 11-year-old girl just changed the game 💡

Millie, who has dyslexia, designed colour-changing glasses to make reading easier and more comfortable - an idea she first had at just 8 years old. Her glasses use interchangeable coloured lenses to reduce visual stress, helping words stay still and headaches fade.

With up to 1 in 10 people in the UK affected by dyslexia, this isn’t just an invention... it’s a potential life-changer!

Her design has already won a gold medal and been turned into a real prototype, and now the goal is to get them on shelves so others can benefit too.

The future is bright... and it’s being built by young minds like Millie’s 🟢

Help shape a safer Lewisham for women and girls

We are developing a new Domestic Abuse and Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) Strategy for 2027–2030, and want to hear from you.

Whether you’ve been personally affected, are worried about someone you know, or simply care about making Lewisham safer, your views will help shape how the Council, police and local services work together over the next few years.

🕊️ The survey is anonymous
⏱️ Takes around 10 minutes
✅ All questions are optional
💬 Your feedback will directly inform the new strategy

Some topics may be sensitive, and support information is provided throughout. If you need help, local support is available.

Together, we can help make Lewisham a safer place for everyone.

As we reach the midpoint of January, we're reflecting on the incredible resilience demonstrated by our students at Young Women's Hub. 🌟

In alternative education, we understand that progress takes many forms - from attending consistently to engaging in a single lesson, to taking brave steps outside comfort zones.

Each achievement, no matter how small it may seem, represents significant personal growth for young women who've faced considerable barriers to education.

At the heart of our community, our school is more than just a place of learning—it is a sanctuary, a safe space, a support system for young women facing extraordinary challenges. Every day, we witness these young women's resilience, strength, and determination as they navigate hardship, trauma, and uncertainty. But no one should have to face these battles alone.
We are calling on our community to stand with us and help us provide the support, stability, and safe environment these young women desperately need. Your donations can make a real, lasting impact—whether it's funding essential resources, mental health support, mentorship programs, or simply creating a welcoming space where these young women feel seen, heard, and valued.
No contribution is too small, and every gesture of kindness counts. With your generosity, we can offer hope, create change, and build a future where every young woman has the opportunity to thrive.
Join us in making a difference today. Donate, share, and support—because we can change lives together.
