We have another reason to celebrate across Gold Care Homes with another outstanding achievement from our team at Lynwood Village.

A huge congratulations to Carmen Ionescu from Lynwood Home Care, who has been named the winner of the Care and Support Worker Award (Independent) at the Housing with Care Awards 2026 πŸ†

Carmen's compassion, professionalism and dedication to supporting people to live independently have rightly earned national recognition. While we're incredibly proud of this achievement, those who know Carmen will tell you that the kindness and commitment recognised by this award are simply part of who she is every day.

Congratulations, Carmen. What a fantastic achievement for you, Lynwood Village and the wider Gold Care Homes family.

is always a wonderful opportunity to celebrate one of the nation's favourite traditions, and this year was no exception across our Gold Care Homes 🐟

While fish and chips may be a simple pleasure, this year, our homes found their own special ways to mark the occasion. Here are just a few of our favourite moments captured...

At Amy Woodgate House , our residents enjoyed a visit from Howe & Co Fish and Chips Van, bringing the traditional chip shop experience right to their doorstep. Many enjoyed ordering their own meals and tucking into a freshly cooked favourite.

Our wonderful residents at Hungerford Care Home took the celebrations a step further with a visit to The Bear Hotel Hungerford , where they enjoyed lunch together. Sharing a meal out in the community provided the perfect opportunity for us all to spend some good quality time together. 😁

Meanwhile, at Acton Care Centre , Burrows House , and Autumn Vale Care Centre , our residents enjoyed freshly prepared fish and chips made by the homes' talented catering teams and sometimes, a home-cooked meal is the perfect choice. Wouldn't you agree that there is something especially comforting about a home-cooked meal?

For many of our residents, fish and chips are tied to memories of family meals, seaside outings, Friday night suppers, and visiting local chip shops and celebrating National Fish and Chips Day is a chance to revisit those memories together. πŸ’Ÿ

With the rain and thunderstorms rolling in this week, we've been looking back at some of the sunshine-filled moments our homes enjoyed during β˜€οΈ

Across Gold Care Homes , we made the most of the beautiful weather, coming together in our gardens and courtyards for good food, great company and plenty of laughter and we saw a bit of everything... from live entertainment and surprise animal visits to simply enjoying a burger in the sunshine with friends and family!

One unforgettable moment from this week of fun was over at St Mary's Court Care Home and The New Deanery Care Home where they came together to host the talented Hollie-Blue . Her performance was so beautiful and had everyone singing along, making the afternoon unforgettable.

At Queensway House Care Home , Amber and Willow from Fuzzy's Farm stole the show. Residents loved spending time with the friendly alpacas, who certainly knew how to charm a crowd.

We also wanted to share a few of our favourite photos captured from Willesden Court Care Home , Amy Woodgate House and Lucton House Care Home who also made the most of the sunshine with some fantastic BBQs. 🌭

It really was such an amazing week for all of us at Gold Care Homes! πŸ’œ

While gave us a lovely opportunity to reflect, embracing different cultures, backgrounds and experiences is something we are incredibly proud of every single day across our homes πŸ’œ

We saw so many wonderful examples of residents and teams learning from one another, sparking conversations and celebrating the traditions, memories and stories that make each of our homes so unique.

From food and music to meaningful conversations, it was a lovely reminder that there is always something new to discover about one another 🌍 Here are just a few ways that we celebrated...

At Burrows House, our wonderful team prepared a fantastic spread of food from different cultures for everyone to try, and there were definitely a few empty plates by the end 😊 Our residents loved chatting about favourite meals and family traditions, and before long the music was on with everyone dancing together and enjoying songs from around the world πŸ’ƒπŸ•Ί

Lucton House Care Home was full of colour as our lovely team came dressed in traditional clothing and kindly brought in dishes from their cultures for residents to sample. There were lots of chats about favourite recipes, family meals and traditions, with everyone really enjoying trying something new πŸ’œ

At Lansdowne Care Home, our residents spent the afternoon learning about different countries, flags and traditions as team members proudly shared stories from home. One phrase from the day really stayed with us all… β€œDifferent Countries, One Home.” And that’s exactly what it felt like 🌍

The The Triangle Care Home enjoyed a thoughtful afternoon with sweet treats from around the world, music playing through the home and plenty of conversations along the way. One of our wonderful carers, Guri, also shared the meaning behind turbans and their importance in Sikh culture, with residents really interested to learn more and even try them on themselves 😊

And at Amy Woodgate House, there were lots of smiles and lovely conversations as residents learned more about different customs, clothing and traditions from across the world. It was so special seeing everyone sharing stories and taking such an interest in one another πŸ’œ

Our care homes came together to celebrate VE Day in the most wonderful ways so we wanted to shine a light on how they celebrated πŸ’œ

Across our homes there was music, dancing, flags waving and plenty of red, white and blue as everyone joined in to mark such an important occasion.

At Lucton House Care Home, the afternoon was filled with singing and smiles thanks to Hannah Carousel - Singer who had everyone joining in from the very first song. VE Day cupcakes and festive decorations added to the celebration, with our amazing residents really embracing the spirit of the day 🎢

Burrows House enjoyed a lively celebration with Claire leading wartime favourites that had everyone singing along. It was especially lovely seeing our wonderful residents waving flags and sharing the afternoon with families, while Susan, one of our Activities Coordinators, added a thoughtful touch by dressing for the occasion 😊

At St Mary's Court Care Home, residents enjoyed music, games and sweet treats, with plenty of reminiscing throughout the afternoon. The live entertainment brought lots of toe tapping moments, and a big thank you goes to Mark from Frederick Douglas Performing Arts Academy for helping make the day so special πŸ’œ

Kent House Care Home was full of laughter, cake and classic songs, with residents sharing stories and enjoying a real sense of celebration together. It was a lovely reminder of how special these shared moments can be 😊

And at Kingfisher House Care Home, our amazing residents enjoyed a peaceful garden gathering in the sunshine, chatting and reflecting together. There were some especially meaningful moments as Bill shared memories from his time serving in Borneo and Malaysia, while Albert proudly waved his Union Jack. Families also joined in, making it a truly special afternoon for everyone involved πŸ’œ

A beautiful week of VE Day celebrations across all our homes, each one filled with connection, memory sharing and joy in their own unique way 🌷

What a wonderful week it’s been across our homes. We have had some really special social moments that are all about bringing people together and creating real connection πŸ’œ

At Heath Lodge Care Centre, we’ve enjoyed a lovely mix of activities, from jigsaws and word searches to colouring sessions. Our ball games also brought lots of smiles, with everyone joining in at their own pace and encouraging one another 🧩🎨

Garden walks have been a real highlight too, giving our wonderful residents time to enjoy the fresh air, greenery and easy conversation. We’ve also shared some very meaningful moments through sensory activities and doll therapy, offering comfort, reassurance and a calm sense of togetherness πŸ’œ

At St Katharine's House, our weekly community outings continue to be something everyone looks forward to. Whether it’s a visit to a garden centre, museum or a wander through charity shops, there’s always something new to enjoy. These trips bring a lovely sense of independence and plenty of stories to share on the way home 🌿

At Lucton House Care Home, we enjoyed a peaceful walk over to Rowheath Pavilion, making the most of the sunshine and fresh air and taking time to take in our surroundings β˜€οΈ

Marlborough Court Care Home also shared a very special moment recently as Moira celebrated her 81st birthday. Surrounded by love and family, including some who travelled all the way from Australia, it was a truly heartfelt day full of smiles and memories πŸŽ‚

At Emberbrook Care Home, creativity has been shining through with painting, colouring and some lovely teamwork. Mary proudly took the win for her artwork, while June and Judy enjoyed making a supportive cushion together, filled with chat and laughter along the way 🎨

Across all our homes, it’s these simple, shared moments that mean the most… connection, laughter and time spent together πŸ’œ
