The inquest failed Oladeji—and failed justice.
The jury was blocked from answering the most vital questions.
Clear, harrowing footage was ignored.
A system that protects itself instead of the people it’s meant to serve.

Deji's life mattered. Always.

After nearly three years, the inquest into Deji’s death will finally begin on 3 March.

On 4 June 2022, Deji fell into the River Thames after being Tasered multiple times by Metropolitan Police officers on Chelsea Bridge, while in the midst of a mental health crisis and just a few metres from his home.

His family demands a full and fearless investigation into the circumstances of his death and the actions of the police.

Deji’s story must shine a light on critical policing issues. No one else should have to suffer this pain.

One year ago today, Deji died after being repeatedly and unnecessarily Tasered by on Chelsea Bridge during a mental health crisis. Till today, no officer involved has faced disciplinary action.

We remember him with heavy hearts and an unwavering commitment to seeking justice, truth, and accountability. The process is tiring, but we haven't given up.

We continue to demand a thorough investigation and transparency in this case. Our legal challenge with is ongoing, to ensure that officers are held to the highest policing standards.

Happy Birthday Deji, on what should have been your 42nd birthday.

He was a beloved son, brother, uncle and friend who should still be alive today, celebrating another year with his family and friends.

Join us today as we honour and remember Oladeji Omishore in our continual fight for truth, accountability and justice.

We are committed to raising more awareness of mental health issues in black men, and ending the stigma and violence towards black men in mental health crisis.

It's outrageous that 4 months on, the officers who Tasered him on the bridge still aren't facing any disciplinary or criminal investigations by the IOPC.

The IOPC's threshold for investigations into conduct is low. We believe this test hasn't been applied robustly or fearlessly.

P.S. When this photo was taken on your birthday last year, we could never have imagined that it would become the memorial photo of your justice campaign. Now, the focus is on turning our pain into power.

We miss you. The fight continues.

We welcome the decision by the independent UK charity to write to the UN’s Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights submitting concerns about the recent deaths of Oladeji Omishore & Chris Kaba as part of the UN's global investigation into police brutality.

Yesterday, our family was finally given access to view the body-worn video footage of the officers that encountered our brother Deji on Chelsea Bridge.

This comes more than 3 months after his death.

There is no justification for the wait that families systematically endure to have access to this footage.

It's cruel and deprives families of clarity and closure.

We've heard reports of cases where access has taken over 18 months! Why?!

From the bystander footage, we can see that Deji was vulnerable and subject to an excessive use of force.

We still consider that the use of Taser was reckless, coercive, and opportunities to de-escalate the situation were gravely missed.

The Met Police still has a lot of answering to do.

Despite their actions resulting in death, the officers involved are still on active duty, with no investigation into their conduct. Neither officer has been interviewed under caution.

We are urgently calling for this to change.

The 2021 study by the Independent Office for Police Conduct, found that Police deploy Taser stun guns too often, with black people more likely to face prolonged use lasting over five seconds.

Tasers are not toys; they are dangerous weapons with lethal consequences and we must put an end to their discriminatory usage.
