📢 REFORM UK TO END ASLYUM SCAM AND PUT BRITISH PEOPLE FIRST

Nigel Farage and Zia Yusuf have today announced a major new immigration policy that would see a Reform government suspend the asylum system for up to five years

The plan includes:
- voiding outstanding asylum applications and rejecting new claims during the suspension;
- reviewing asylum grants made in the previous five years;
- immediately deporting foreign national offenders after conviction;
- carrying out a national population audit to identify people living in Britain illegally;
- putting pressure on countries that refuse to take back their own nationals;
- and expanding enforcement through councils, employers and landlords.

The current system has failed and border enforcement must come first.

Our party’s wider Operation Restoring Justice policy would establish a dedicated Deportation Command and a five-year programme to identify, detain and remove illegal migrants.

This is a major shift from the approach taken by successive governments — and one that is needed if this Country is to regain control of it's borders.

🚧 ROAD CLOSURE – ORPINGTON HIGH STREET 🚧

Orpington High Street is set to be dug up again, with UK Power Networks carrying out works from Monday 19 October for up to six days

📍 Closure: High Street between River Park View and Chislehurst Road
đź“… From: Monday 19 October, 8am
⏰ Until: Sunday 25 October, 6pm

The closure is in place while UK Power Networks installs a new electricity supply to a property.

🚌 Bus diversions: Services heading towards Orpington Station, Bromley and Green Street Green will be diverted via Court Road, Spur Road and Gravel Pit Way.

⚠️ Expect delays and disruption around the town centre while the works are taking place.

And most importantly, please continue to support the local businesses affected by the closure. High Street traders have had more than enough disruption already.

Orpington’s welfare bill has now reached almost £196 million a year

That works out at around £1,969 per resident — and spending has risen by 21.6% in just two years

Universal Credit alone accounts for almost ÂŁ118 million, while PIP spending is approaching ÂŁ39 million

Across the whole of Bromley, the bill is now over ÂŁ608 million a year

This isn’t about attacking those who genuinely need support. It is about asking whether a welfare system growing this quickly is sustainable — and whether taxpayers are getting value for money

For years, the Conservatives talked about controlling welfare spending. These figures tell a very different story

Reform UK Orpington believes the system must support those in genuine need, reward work and stop an ever-growing benefits bill becoming the default answer

Today, Labour’s new early-release system has begun — with around 700 prisoners estimated to leave custody on day one alone

Reform UK’s position is that this is the wrong answer

If prisons are full, build more capacity or remove foreign offenders abroad — don’t solve the problem by shortening the amount of time offenders spend in custody

Reform believe that victims and law-abiding communities should not be the ones expected to carry the risk created by years of failure to provide enough prison places

We don't want more Shoplifters in our high street. We don't Orpington's women and children being in even more danger than they already are

A prison sentence should mean something.

🚨 UPDATE: Bromley’s Budget Crisis Deepens

Bromley Council is forecasting a £43m budget gap in 2027/28, rising to £61m the following year — and Council Leader Colin Smith has now written directly to Government over the borough’s funding position.

Bromley Council is now asking the Labour Government either to improve its funding position or give the borough greater freedom over how high it can raise our Council Tax.

Bromley residents are being warned that difficult financial decisions lie ahead, with the council forecasting a £43 million budget deficit next year and acknowledging that higher Council Tax, significant service savings – or a combination of both – may be required.

Some of our Reform members joined local residents this morning for the Derry Downs Green Belt Autumn Walk in St Mary Cray

It was a really enjoyable walk — and being out in this beautiful open space again only strengthened our support for the campaign to protect it.

The proposed development site is entirely within the Green Belt, and plans for housing here remain a live planning issue.

We were pleased to stand alongside local residents who have worked hard to make their voices heard.

While Reform members were there it was a shame that none of our local Conservative councillors could make the walk - obviously there is no election around the corner...

Thanks to everyone who organised the walk and everyone who came along. A lovely morning in a part of our local area that residents clearly care deeply about.

🚨 FOUR PEOPLE STABBED IN BROMLEY HIGH STREET

We are shocked and angry at the news coming from Bromley this afternoon.

Four men have been stabbed in broad daylight in Bromley High Street. One is reported to be in a critical condition, with three others also being treated in hospital.

Seven people have been arrested and the circumstances are still being investigated, so we will not speculate while the facts are being established.

But we will say this:

This is far too close to home.

These are the streets where we shop. Where we work. Where our children and families go every day.

People should be able to walk through Bromley High Street on a Thursday afternoon without witnessing scenes like this.

Londoners have had enough of being told that concerns about crime and public safety are exaggerated.

They aren't.

For too long we have watched violent crime become something London is seemingly expected to tolerate and simply move on from.

We refuse to accept that this should ever become normal.

The Mayor of London and the Government have a fundamental responsibility to make our streets safer. Londoners deserve action, not excuses.

Our thoughts tonight are with all four people injured, particularly the man reported to be critically ill, and with their families and loved ones.

We also thank the police, paramedics and London Air Ambulance crews who responded to the incident.

Bromley deserves better. London deserves better. We deserve to feel safe in our own communities.

The incident took place shortly after 2pm this afternoon
