WEPT (Women Empowerment Project & Training) is a recently established Community Interest Company (CIC), creating and administering projects that aim to promote women empowerment, training and sustainability. We work with leading practitioners to provide a programme of activities, events and access to information that will help and encourage people to consider improvements in their lives, through s

kills and personal development and well-being that will lead to self sustainability in the community. Our work also utilises the role of art and the creative industries to empowering women to make their ideas happen, in order to further enhance their quality of life; and improve knowledge and appreciation of historic, cultural and traditional life in Wembley area of Brent

The primary outcomes of our activity are to:
• Improve access to beneficial information to enable self employment and sustainability
• Increase participation in healthy activities
• Widen the knowledge of methods to improve and sustain a healthier mindset and self sufficiency
• Supporting objectives of our work include:
• Increased awareness in creative, cultural and traditional art forms through the collaboration with other organisations
• Increased local participation and engagement in cross-community activities
Ultimately, this project will become not only an income-generating program but promote the economic advancement of women by providing them with skills to use sewing and craft as well as basic business skills. Many of these women will be able to use their new found/renewed skills to establish small businesses, sell their products within the community and support their families independently. Essentially, we believe that one of the most valuable things we can give these women is the opportunity for stable work and to be financially self-reliant.

WEPT is crowdfunding to establish a creative hub in the Church Street Community of West London. We need you support by pledging to help us achieve our target. See details below.
STEPS (Skills Training Exhibitions & Production Space) Crowdfunding Campaign

We are running a crowdfunding campaign on Spacehive, the UK’s dedicated platform for improving local services.
Our campaign is called: Skills Training & Education Creative Hub
Our campaign page URL is: https://www.spacehive.com/thelondonsteps
Our campaign will run until: 7 February 2022
Our crowdfunding target is: £37,127
Spacehive has a partnership with City of Westminster Council, which can pledge up to £8000 to our campaign. We have made an application to their fund via Spacehive, and our campaign will be considered after a few weeks of crowdfunding. Getting pledge will in part based on the strength of our project and its alignment with their funding priorities, but also the popularity of our campaign.

We must hit our target in order to receive the funds. If we don’t hit our target, then we don’t receive anything. People can ‘back’ our campaign by ‘pledging’ via the campaign page. This involves using either papal or Gocardless (this is a payment gateway that allows people to pledge using a UK bank account and sort code)

The ‘pledge’ is set up as a pre-authorised payment, so no money is actually taken from the backer unless we hit our target, the pledge is cancelled.
Crowdfunding means we need to actively promote our campaign if we need to reive pledges. The minimum is £2, and at the start of the campaign if we need to gather as many as possible as this will demonstrate the popular appeal of our project.

Our project has successfully passed verification process, where it was assessed by an independent organisation called Loyalty

Help us to establish a space of belonging for the community, by the community. It will be an intergenerational creative hub welcoming to all, based in Church Street.
