The government, in agreement with fire services across the country, has this evening issued an emergency alert to raise awareness of the risk of wildfires with the public. Please do only call 999 if you see a fire unattended or see the signs of a fire.

People can continue to enjoy BBQs at home, provided they are used safely, responsibly and under strict supervision until it has burnt out or been extinguished. Thank you for helping us keep our communities safe.

A crew from Watford Fire Station recently administered life-saving medication to a member of the public.
Naloxone, an anti-opioid medication, rapidly reverses the effects of a drug overdose. It was used after the crew from Red Watch were made aware of a man who had collapsed close to the fire station. The crew immediately responded and following assessment administered four doses of Naloxone, successfully reviving the casualty prior to handover to East of England Ambulance Service.
Naloxone was trialled and used for the first time last year and all fire stations in Hertfordshire now have stock to administer when needed.

A huge thank you to Hertfordshire's farming community for their support during several recent field fires.

Local farmers have provided vital water supplies to help our crews tackle incidents more effectively, demonstrating the value of our close collaboration with the National Farmers Union (NFU).

Since our partnership with the NFU began in 2022, it has continued to evolve and strengthen. As well as receiving support during emergencies, we're able to work with farmers to share advice on rural fire safety, wildfire prevention and animal rescues, helping to make our rural communities safer and more resilient.

Strong partnerships, shared expertise and a commitment to protecting Hertfordshire continue to make this collaboration a real success.
