Fact - You can foster whether you rent or own!

The only specifications are:
You must get written consent from your private landlord, local council, or housing association.

You must have a dedicated spare bedroom for each foster child, however there are exceptions for some siblings and infants.

Your home must offer a long-term, secure environment with no history of rent arrears or risk of eviction.

💗 Foster carers need support too! Small things can make a big difference.

Fostering can be incredibly rewarding, but it can also come with challenges. Having a strong support network around a foster carer can make such a difference.

You don’t need to be a fostering expert to help. Sometimes it’s the simple things that mean the most — listening without judgement, offering practical help, being understanding when plans change, or simply checking in and letting them know you’re there. 🫶

And remember, respecting the young person’s privacy and confidentiality is just as important as supporting the carer.

Don’t forget, make sure you get your DBS submitted with the agency as a priority to be able to be part of their support network.
