“We appreciate that it can be a very worrying time for parents whose babies may need specialist care on our unit.”

Coming into a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) for the first time can be overwhelming, particularly at an already emotional time for families.

Thanks to , parents and carers can now explore the NICU virtually before they even walk through the door.

The 360-degree virtual tour allows families to navigate the unit, explore its layout, learn about the medical equipment they may encounter and locate key facilities, all from the comfort of home and at their own pace.

From clinical spaces to family facilities, each area is clearly identified, helping families become familiar with an unfamiliar environment and feel more prepared for their visit.

Dr Ravindra Bhat, Clinical Lead for Neonatal Services at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We hope that being able to visualise the unit prior to visiting in person can provide some reassurance. We want to do as much as we can to make the experience of being in a NICU less stressful and help families to feel more in control of their experience.”

The project was developed in partnership with the London Neonatal Network, hosted by Evelina London, helping to support families across our city during what can be a challenging and emotional time.

Great job team 💙
