These photos of an exercise we did with a long piece of string reflect something we see every day at RAD: people coming together to make a difference.

Our team is connected by a shared commitment to a future of opportunity, achievement and equality for deaf people. Every person plays a part: when we work together, share knowledge and support one another, we create something far stronger than any one of us could achieve alone.

When we’re connected to others, we become part of something bigger. 💙

Good Deaf Awareness Training goes beyond facts and definitions.

It helps organisations create workplaces where deaf colleagues, customers and service users can communicate confidently, access information equitably and feel genuinely included. It also creates space for people to ask questions, challenge assumptions and build their understanding in a supportive environment.

We're proud of the expertise, passion and lived experience our trainers bring to every session. Paul is a fantastic example of this, helping learners from organisations of all sizes explore deaf awareness in a way that is practical, engaging and accessible (and bringing his signature humour to every session!).

Thank you to everyone who shares feedback with us. It helps us continue delivering training that makes a real difference.

A lovely afternoon spent at Blanche Nevile School for Deaf Children Family Day. ⭐

It was fantastic to meet children, families and staff, enjoy the performances and activities, and spend time connecting with the community.

Thank you to Co-Headteachers Kathryn McCarthy and Laila Doobeh and everyone at Blanche Nevile School for inviting us along and for welcoming us into the school community for the afternoon!

In 1992, Vera Hunt became the first deaf woman to be ordained.

Reverend Vera Hunt devoted many years to supporting and serving the deaf community, and her ordination marked an important milestone in deaf history. Although she sadly passed away in 2025, her contribution continues to be remembered.

This story is just one of many featured in our RAD history book. If you’d like to discover more of the people, places and moments that have shaped deaf history, you can download your free copy on our website: https://eu1.hubs.ly/H0vPcrt0

Our CEO, Mark Wheatley, attended an event at the Finnish Ambassador’s Residence this week, hosted by the Embassy of Finland in collaboration with Signmark.

Signmark (Marko Vuoriheimo), Finland’s Speaker of the Year 2024, shared his powerful journey from being told to accept limitations to becoming a globally recognised deaf artist and advocate for equality. His use of music and storytelling to challenge perceptions was both powerful and thought-provoking.

For Mark, it was a strong reminder of the importance of deaf leadership, authenticity in inclusion, and the role organisations must play in making accessibility a shared responsibility, not something left to individuals to overcome.

Thank you to the Embassy of Finland for hosting such an important event and for bringing people together for these conversations.
