This is real as it gets. I remember catching the end of this. Christmas playing all day, boxing day as well. First house Christmas Cake and whisky second house sherry and it went on most of the day. I remember Tom Whitfield recalling that they once played carols outside a barn. Another time trombonist lost his mouthpiece on scar road. The conductor was the Reverend so they all had to kneel down in the snow and pray that it turned up. One of the bands men hurt his knee knelling on the lost mouthpiece. The band devoured the whole Christmas cake at one farm. When you play from memory and had a few, sometimes it is difficult remember when the chorus starts, I was like a record stuck in a grove at Browns at long side. I was late home and my good lady had had a chimney fire as we were using the York Range to keep the plates warm, she wouldn't come and pick me up, managed to get home. So did the car.
