🎉10 YEARS OF LOCHBOISDALE HARBOUR🎉

This year marks a decade since the official opening of Lochboisdale Harbour – and what a journey it’s been! 🛥️⚓️

Officially opened on Saturday 5th September 2015, by Deputy First Minister John Swinney, the vision for a vibrant, modern harbour in South Uist became reality.

Since then, Lochboisdale Harbour has grown into a vital hub for our island community – supporting fishing, tourism, local businesses, and providing a warm welcome to sailors and visitors from across the globe.

Over the past 10 years, we’ve:
• Welcomed hundreds of vessels and visitors 🌍
• Supported local fishermen and entrepreneurs 🛥
• Hosted regattas, Feis Ghasaigh, and community events 🎶
• Created jobs and opportunities that continue to shape our island’s future 🏠
• Helped put South Uist on the maritime map 🗺

🛥 The activity over the weekend at the harbour, where we had the busiest berthing since the harbour opened in 2015. The 50 berth pontoon facility accommodated 60 vessels in total as we were able to raft some vessels side by side due to favourable weather conditions.

There was an event organised by the cruising club of America, in conjunction with the Clyde Cruising Club, and the Irish Cruising Association sailing around the West of Scotland and they decided to call at Lochboisdale for a couple of nights.

Some of the American visitors attend the EDF weekend and others took bus and taxi trips around South Uist.

The vessels departed on Sunday morning for a muster in Vatersay Bay, where Buth Bharraigh had organised an evening reception. 🛥
