Building a business is a challenge (I'm learning) but being in the business of care makes you question if it is actually possible without expanding on already functioning care organisations. The trouble with franchising is....you lose your autonomy to build a company based on what is most important to you, and your reason for wanting to make a difference to a practically broken system.

Here's the latest challenge...not a criticism of any other industry - but two premises recently became available in my local area (Loanhead) and I put in a good case for each. Community building and offering care to older people facing isolation and their loved ones. Everyone knows I have a genuine interest in helping and promoting positive experiences of care.

The first one went to a Turkish barber - the third in our main street.
The second had just gone to a nail bar (pretty sure it's one of the high turnover in a day ones 🫣) I may stand corrected in time.

Both have a place in the community, I appreciate that.

But it does highlight the kind of society we are existing in - when these shops are more appealing than a care, support and information service for our most vulnerable.

We will battle on and keep believing what's for us wont go by us, but it's disheartening to say the very least 🩵

Just a wee business update in case any one was wondering why I have been uncharacteristically quiet - probably not....but here we are 💁🏻‍♀️

Meeting 1 with the care inspectorate went well! I received my feedback and spent the whole weekend updating my policies and getting all my bits and bobs over - the good news is they see my passion and potential in starting up this business 🩵 and are very supportive!!

I have my second meeting booked with them to make sure I have good quality resources and am working in line with the health and social care standards which underpin everything we do in the industry.

I am receiving referrals regularly for Care and Companionship so am working to my capacity as a sole trader...but have some lovely people lined up to support in the care delivery when the time comes.

I also have some requests for home help and shopping type visits which I am always happy to discuss...... my lovely team have availability for these services now - so get in touch with any requests.

We will always lead with compassion, integrity and accountability.....PVG and insurance in place for anyone who will be supporting you or your loved one 🩵

I got a call from a lovely lady who is supported by the amazing Vintage Vibes 💛
Her volunteer found me through recommendations on egg - we met yesterday, I started today. I am now at my fullest possible capacity, with a list of requests to expand once registered (manifesting a Care Inspectorate update 🙌🏻)
I'm sharing as it just goes to show what a share, follow or kind word can do for a wee business 🤗🩵

Happy Friday 🩵 a wee end of week update on progress as I've had a few people asking. I'm doing everything I can do get my Care Inspectorate registration complete. I am hoping and praying I get news soon on timescales so I can move forward and support as many lovely families as I can (we can!)
Until then, I am a bit stunted.....(trust the process they say)
I have no choice but to take a breath and hope all these amazing relationships and supportive people I have worked with, and those looking to work with me are still about when the time comes. The momentum is really growing and I'm keeping the heed as best I can (Ross might disagree)......I mean look how calm we are in this hoose...😂🩵

Today's excitement....drizzly and rotten but its dry in the bookies! I'm not a betting person myself, however this gentleman has missed his visits and now he is back!
This is definitely a win for me, assisting people to get back to what makes them, them 🤩 that's the goal!

Lots of exciting things happening behind the scenes. I look forward to updating all on the progress 🩵

Yesterday was a bit of a dreary one....(Weather-wise) Never a dull day when Elliot and I day trip!
Rocked up to East End Park ⚽ and after a quick blether with the receptionist, we got a wee impromptu behind the scenes tour and a pitch visit.
