Patterns of Chaos (detail), Fabrics, acrylic & fabricpaints, pen, machine embroidery & plastic by Denise R.Wailliams.
Denise Williams worked in adult education for 18 years, teaching Design and Textiles to City & Guilds Level 3 as well as Art classes. She is an artist who works with textiles and also photography. Her work is developed from her photographs via drawings and paintings into textile hangings. Denise’s work is mainly inspired by the natural world combined with her own life experiences.
This set of work evolved from photos taken at the greenhouse at the Maggie’s Centre in Manchester. It explores multi-layered emotional experiences and reflects the continuing need to ’Keep on carrying on’ even when times are complicated.
Denise questions the idea of green being regarded as a peaceful colour by using secondary and tertiary colours related to green, hence reflecting the many emotions which contrast and conflict within life; creating a turmoil of colour.
