π Meritorious Public Service Award Presented to Mrs Joan Hammond
Llandudno Town Council was honoured to present the Meritorious Public Service Award to Mrs Joan Hammond at the Councilβs AGM on Friday evening. The award recognises exceptional service and dedication to the town and its community.
Joan first became involved in the Scout movement as a young leader while still in her teens. From the very beginning, she demonstrated the dedication, compassion, leadership, and belief in young people that have continued to define her remarkable contribution over the past four decades.
Now, forty years after starting her journey in Scouting in Llandudno, Joan remains at the very heart of the movement. As Lead Volunteer for the Orme Scouts, she continues to support fellow leaders, uphold training standards, and promote community involvement and public service. Remarkably, she still volunteers each week as a leader across two separate Scout sections.
Through her kindness, leadership, and unwavering commitment, Joan has helped shape generations of young people in Llandudno β giving them confidence, adventure, skills for life, and a strong sense of belonging through her selfless service.
On behalf of the Town Council and the wider community, thank you, Joan, for forty years of outstanding dedication to Scouting and public service.
