Today we are out at Builth Wells Fest carnival!

Lots to do with Bouncy Castle, Entertainment and many Stall Holders!
Why not come along and show us your CPR skills, never too often to brush up.

Today we are supported by St John Ambulance Cymru Rhayader .
It's a busy weekend for Powys, with Llanbadarn Show, and the Rotary Cross Wales Walk today!.

Remember to have fun, sun cream up, and importantly drink plenty (of water!).

Today members are out supporting St John Ambulance Cymru Newtown Division with Newtown Carnival. If you're there have a great day!

An especially important carnival day, following the recent passing of our friend and Newtown Member Duckie. Who will be remembered strongly during today's event.

Volunteers do so much more than just attend events and training, we also deliver community training for free, making sure members of the public and schools know what to do when the worst happens.

We like to thank our volunteers after every duty regardless, but this Volunteers Week it's important we make that public!
Our volunteers give varying amounts of time, depending on their life circumstances, but are all equally dedicated to the cause. If your interested, drop us a message, we have a variety of roles for a variety of people, regardless how much or little you can support.

Our St John people are vitally important to our operations, from Trainers, Youth Leaders, Community Volunteers, Managers and Event Responders.

This volunteers week, we want to say a massive thank you, giving up time each week for training, and covering a wide variety of shows in the local area and beyond, our volunteers are dedicated and passionate.

So, THANK YOU! 👍🎆🎂🎊🎉🥇

This week is - an opportunity to say thank you to all those who give up their time to support our charity's work across Wales, from first aiders and youth leaders to Trustees and logistics operatives, plus many more besides!

Throughout the week we'll be shining a light on just a few of our dedicated and the amazing work they do. Diolch o galon!

Today is officially the hottest day of the year so far - and while we’re all enjoying the sunshine, it’s important to stay safe in the heat.

Heat exhaustion can come on quickly, especially when you’re out in the sun, exercising, or not drinking enough water.

Look for:
- headache
- dizziness and confusion
- loss of appetite and feeling sick
- sweating with pale, clammy skin
- cramps in the arms, legs, and stomach
- fast, weakening pulse and rapid breathing

Knowing the signs and what to do could help protect you or someone around you.

Medications can affect the body's ability to regulate temperature, especially in hot weather. Make sure you:

🧊 keep cool
👩‍⚕️ consult a doctor or pharmacist if you have questions

We are saddened to hear the passing of Lynda 'Duckie' Williams. Duckie was a long standing member of St John Ambulance Cymru Newtown Division with 66 years of service.

Duckie lit up every room, and many members new and experienced have fond memories of her.

We extend our deepest sympathy to her family, friends and all that knew her.
