Brecon, Radnor & Cwm Tawe Liberal Democrats are delighted to confirm that Lauren D'Silva will be the Welsh Liberal Democrats candidate in the forthcoming Llandrindod South By-election.
Lauren specialised in Health Education and co-ordinated the National Healthy Schools Programme for Leicestershire, promoting well-being initiatives for students and staff.

She moved with her young family to Llandrindod over 20 years ago and served nationally as a health education consultant. She also provided specialist eating disorder awareness training for the Eating Disorders Association (now Beat) around the UK. Alongside those roles she built her therapy practice. She now works with her clients worldwide.

Lauren says, “I moved to Llandrindod looking for a change of pace, cleaner air and a safe place to bring up my children. I fell in love with the town and its heritage, originally built on wellness. Health and health promotion are topics I am still passionate about, and the community spirit in Llandrindod is strong, and it’s worth celebrating.

I believe our town has got something really special. I hope to support our community through being your County Councillor.”

Responding to the resignation of the First Minister of Wales Vaughan Gething, Welsh Liberal Democrat Leader Jane Dodds AS/MS said:

"This is the right decision but one that was long overdue. Welsh Labour have left us in a sorry situation of their own making.

"The Welsh Liberal Democrats want to see steps taken to ensure these sorts of scandals don't keep happening, including a cap on political donations.

"Whoever now becomes Welsh Labour Leader, the Welsh Liberal Democrats will ensure they are held to account and focus on the issues where the Welsh public is being let down, whether that's child poverty, ambulance waiting times or the situation at Port Talbot Steel Works."

What a busy but humbling first week in Westminster. I am honing in on your top priorities. Cleaning up our rivers and tackling sewage dumping was one of the issues people raised frequently during the recent General Election campaign.

I have written to Peter Parry, the Chief Executive of Welsh Water, requesting a face-to-face meeting on the company's plans to stop sewage dumping. Our rivers cross borders and so must I. To tackle people's priorities I will work constructively with both the Welsh and UK governments, and the relevant regulators.

“Her criticism of the way in which she was relieved from her duties further shows the lack of accountability and transparency that has clouded Vaughan Gething’s term as First Minister.

“The First Minister has already lost the confidence of the Senedd, for the sake of Welsh democracy he must resign.”
