Willow Globe - Shakespeare Link

Willow Globe - Shakespeare Link A magical outdoor theatre woven in living willow - brought to you by the Shakespeare Link Charity.

“Perhaps Britain’s most enchanting outdoor drama experience”
- The Sunday Times

The Willow Globe (Y Glôb Byw) is a scaled down, living version of the Globe in London, being a third of its size in diameter. The willow has been carefully woven into an organic and spiritual theatre, starkly sculptural in spring, which is almost completely absorbed by its lush, green surroundings in summer months.

This secret, magical and intimate space, with a rough thrust stage, is totally unique - we believe it is one of the largest willow constructions in the country and probably the only one in use as a theatre in the world. Viola’s determination to ‘make me a willow cabin at your gate’ has a whole new resonance. We host events from April - September, offering syllabus Shakespeare for schools through workshops, community productions and professional tours. It is a venue for an eclectic mix of music, Shakespeare, and other arts happenings. We have the option of wet weather cover in a theatre within our converted barn should it rain. Facilities include a licensed onsite pub, serving drinks before, during and after the show; a tea & cake stall; onsite car parking; a disabled access toilet. All events are organised and administrated by the Shakespeare Link Charity and set within an organic farm at Penlanole, owned by Sue Best and Phil Bowen. The Willow Globe is part of the Shakespeare Link Charity no. 1040576

Ooh we've entered single digits, 9 days to go until Midsummer Revels!

There's something pretty radical these days about gathering together in person on Summer Solstice weekend. Not only are we counting down to a day of arts, nature, creativity and community, but we're also on the cusp of the longest day of the year, so here's a gentle reminder from us to you to slow down, step outside, and make the most of the light - if you can!

Whether you're joining us to roam, create, play, picnic, watch The Tempest, or simply spend a few hours outdoors, we hope you'll help us celebrate the arrival of summer in one of Llandrindod's most beautiful spaces, summer weather not guaranteed, sunny disposition from all of us organisers, absolutely guaranteed!

WHAT ARE YOU DOING ON THE LONGEST DAY OF THE YEAR?

We're looking for volunteers to help bring Midsummer Revels to life on Sunday 21st June at The Amphitheatre, Llandrindod Lake.

Midsummer Revels is a one-day celebration of arts and nature, filled with creative activities, wildlife-inspired workshops, exploration, play, and an open-air performance of The Tempest in the amphitheatre.

Whether you can spare a full day, half a day, or just an hour, we'd love to hear from you.

No special experience needed, if you enjoy the arts, love nature, or simply want to help create a brilliant community event, you're exactly who we're looking for.

Sunday 21st June | 10.30am–5pm
