As 2022 ends, we take a quick reflection back on the past year and look ahead to 2023.
This year has been challenging for everyone in one way or another, as a team we have seen a dramatic increase in 'red' immediate life threatening calls. But thanks to new skills and training provided by the ambulance service we have been able to make a difference in some difficult situations for patients. We've been able to put our new enhanced skills training into practice this year doing fuller assessments of a patients condition.
We've helped the town council with their roll out of public access defibrillators in the town, taking on the checking and maintenance of them on their behalf. Its been good to see that these defibs have already been deployed to a handful of calls in the town during the year.
We attended the town carnival with a stall, showing people and a large number of children some of our equipment and importantly how to do cpr and use a defib.
A proud moment for the team was being presented with 3 medals each this year, marking our contribution and service supporting the ambulance service during the covid pandemic, along with a medal for the Queens platinum jubilee, and one from the ambulance service.
So, although this year has had its difficulties, we look back on 2022 with alot of pride and gratitude.
2023 will hopefully see us further enhance our skills & equipment, allowing us to provide even more support to patients. We also plan to roll our cpr & defib training in the local communities.
The month of March should also hopefully see us gain 2 new responders to the team (taking us up to 5) after they have completed their training and assessments. Further opportunities will be available during the year for other new members to apply and join.
We are booked on tonight to support the ambulance service over the new year.
Finally we hope everyone has a Happy New Year and 2023 is a healthy one, Stay safe x
