Tribute | The family of Richard Freeman aged 76 from Wistanstow, Shropshire, wish to pay tribute to him, after he sadly died as a result of a collision on 12th August 2026 in Monaughty, Powys,

In a tribute, his family said:

“Words cannot describe our devastation by Richard's passing. We are still struggling to come to terms with our tragic loss.
Richard was a much-loved husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend of many.
Richard, a retired agricultural engineer, enjoyed many outdoor pursuits including cycling, motorcycling, fishing, and especially walking his beloved dog ‘Indie’.
Richard was an experienced motorcyclist since a very early age, and we will all miss him dearly. Our lives will not be the same without him, and he will be forever in our hearts.
We would like to thank everyone who has reached out with kind words and condolences.
We thank the emergency services and members of the public who attended the scene.”

Rhayader Police have been made aware this evening that members of public are ignoring the road closed signs and even moving them to access the A470 between Doldowlod and Rhayader.

➡️ Please adhere to the road closures as Fire and Rescue need access as the fire is now at the roadside of the A470.
➡️ Follow the diversion signs and find an alternative route.

Dyfed-Powys Police is investigating a two-vehicle collision on the A488 towards Monaughty, Knighton that occurred at approximately12pm on Wednesday, August 12.
The collision involved a Black Harley Davidson Motorcycle and a White Ford Transit.

Sadly, the 76-year-old male rider died at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
There were no other injuries.
The road was closed for collision investigation to take place and reopened at around 00:30am on Thursday, August 13.

Anyone who was travelling along the A488 between Dolau and Monaughty at the relevant time, is asked to contact police.
Investigating officers would particularly like to speak to any motorists who were in the area at that time who have dash cam in their vehicles.

🏍️ The Enduro World Championship returns to Wales for the season finale. With over 6000 visitors expected.

We've got some tips to help you keep your bike safe and reduce the chance of theft:

🔹 Keep your motorcycle in a secure location.
🔹 Fit an alarm, immobiliser, preferably with tracking capability and property mark panels
🔹 Lock the rear wheel to an immovable object or ground anchor and use a disc lock on the front wheel
🔹 Fit theft-resistant number plate fixings
🔹 When possible, keep the lock off the ground

"In partnership with BikeRegister, the UK's National Cycle Database, we have secured Bike Marking kits to help deter and prevent bike theft and increase the chances of stolen bikes being recovered and returned to their rightful owners.

In conjunction with Llandrindod Wells Community Fridge officers will be attending the Summer BBQ at Ysgol Trefonnen on

Friday 7th August 2026 between 14:00hrs and 17:00 hrs to give local residents the chance to have their bikes security marked and registered for free.

Please make sure to bring your pedal bike along and speak to PCSO's 8041 and 8052 if you are interested in registering your bike with the scheme."

Dyfed-Powys Police is investigating the theft of three quadbikes from the Royal Welsh Showground, Llanelwedd in the early hours of Sunday 19 July.

One of the quad bikes has since been located and returned to its owner. The two outstanding quad bikes are:

• KYMCO MXU 550 / Serial number: RFBZ50513S7500319
• KYMCO MXU 700 / Serial number: RFBZ51632NJ80105

Officers have carried out several lines of enquiry, including the use of the National Police Air Service helicopter to locate the stolen bikes. Crime scene investigators have attended to carry out a forensic examination of the scene, and CCTV enquiries have also formed part of the investigation.

Mewn teyrnged, dywedodd ei deulu:
"Dewi Aeron Evans, mab, brawd ac ŵyr annwyl a hoffus; bydd yn golled enfawr i'r teulu a'r gymuned yn Uwchaled. Byddai'r teulu a'r gymuned yn gwerthfawrogi preifatrwydd ar yr amser anodd yma.”
