Carers Week - Additional Carers Payment

Carers Week is a great opportunity to recognise the incredible contribution unpaid carers make every day.

Did you know that if you're receiving Carer Support Payment and care for more than one person, you may be entitled to an additional payment?

The Caring for an Additional Person Payment from Social Security Scotland provides extra financial support for carers who look after multiple people with qualifying disability benefits. If you care for more than one person, it's worth checking whether you could receive this additional amount.

Carers Week 2026 launches theme โ€˜Building Carer Friendly Communitiesโ€™ | Carers UK

The theme for Carers Week 2026 is "Building Carer Friendly Communities"

Taking place from 8th to 14th June 2026, this year's campaign aims to ensure unpaid carers are recognised, understood, and valued within society. โ€ข Monday: Health
โ€ข Tuesday: Social care
โ€ข Wednesday: Work
โ€ข Thursday: Education
โ€ข Friday: Business and services

West Lothian partners have developed a draft Carers Strategy 2026โ€“2028 and your voice matters ๐Ÿ’ฌ

This strategy sets out a shared vision to improve outcomes for unpaid carers across West Lothian. Shaped by national policy, local feedback, and learning from previous strategies, it focuses on:
โœ”๏ธ Early intervention
โœ”๏ธ Prevention
โœ”๏ธ Reducing inequalities

Weโ€™re inviting carers, people with lived experience, partner organisations, and the wider community to have their say.

Your feedback will help ensure the final strategy reflects real experiences, tackles current and future challenges, and delivers meaningful support where itโ€™s needed most.

Take part and help shape the strategy here:
