Today, Su***de Prevention Scotland is launching a powerful new documentary, What I Want You to Know.

The film tells the story of Phil Wanless and his son Fraser, who died by su***de in 2021.

It explores the impact of trauma, relationships, substance use and isolation, and the importance of recognising when someone who appears to be the “helper” may also need help.

Through Phil’s journey, the documentary explores what Fraser was carrying and how his family’s experience can help ensure others are not missed in the same way.

Are you aged 50 to 74 years? Have you received a bowel screening test in the post?

The test can find bowel cancer early, even if you do not have any symptoms.

Completing your bowel screening test is easy and can be done in the privacy of your own home.

• Before you begin, attach the label from your letter to the tube.
• Follow the instructions to collect your sample.
• Place the completed test in the pre-paid envelope and put it in a post box.

You will receive your results in 2 weeks.

9 out of 10 people survive bowel cancer if it’s found and treated early.

The mobile breast screening unit will shortly be at Bathgate Morrisons car park.

Women aged 50-70 years are invited to breast screening every three years. If you are due, your appointment letter will arrive in the post. Don’t ignore it – screening saves lives. If you have any questions or need to reschedule your appointment, contact the breast screening centre (0131 537 7400).
