📚 Happy International Literacy Day! 💛
Today is all about celebrating the importance of literacy, and we think that’s worth celebrating every day.
Because literacy isn’t just about being able to read a book.
It’s being able to understand the world around you.
It’s being able to communicate.
It’s having access to stories, information and opportunities.
It’s finding a book that makes you laugh, wonder, learn or feel understood.
It’s having the chance to discover “I love reading!” 📖✨
That’s why we do what we do.
Free books.
Community book boxes.
Story trails.
Literacy activities.
Stories for everyone. 💛
Because everyone deserves access to books and stories.
So today, pick up a book, read a story, visit your local library, tell someone a story, or simply share a book you love with someone else.

Start the community project... and suddenly you’re organising story trails, meeting authors, chatting with schools and nurseries, making stickers at midnight, sorting thousands of books, building partnerships, and watching your little idea become something so much bigger than you ever imagined.
Here’s to every book, every conversation, every volunteer, and every family that’s been part of the journey so far.
We’re only just getting started.

📚✨ Meet the Book Box Scotland team! ✨📚

Apparently, running a community book box requires a surprisingly large number of people… 😂

From social media and admin, to ideas, creativity, morale, storytelling, cape-wearing and making sure the fun actually happens — we’ve got a team for that. 💛

We’re a little chaotic, but we’re all here for the same thing: bringing books, stories and a bit of magic into our community. 📖🌿

And yes… Archie is just as much a qualified member of staff as the rest of us. 🐶😂

Today’s adventure took us to Lanark to visit the dinosaurs! 🦖💚

We always love finding fun, low-cost family days out, and this one definitely didn’t disappoint.

Sometimes the best memories are made just by getting out and exploring somewhere new. 💛
