DO YOU know someone who has made a positive difference to their community or who has gone above and beyond for others?
Angela Constance MSP is searching for a local hero in Almond Valley, to help help ensure one of her constituents receives recognition for their achievements at an event to mark the opening of Session 7 of the Scottish Parliament.
Local heroes who have been selected will be invited by the Scottish Parliament as a special guest of Angela Constance MSP, to attend the Parliament’s Opening Ceremony, an event which will take place on Saturday 27 June to formally mark the new session of the Parliament.
Launching the search Angela said: "I know in Almond Valley, there are so many amazing people who give up their time week in and week out to help others – often without the recognition they deserve. As Session 7 of the Scottish Parliament gets underway, it is right that, the people of Scotland are placed at the heart of our event to commemorate this milestone.
"Together with my fellow MSPs, we want to celebrate the achievements of people across every constituency and region in Scotland as part of the opening of the new Parliament.
"I am really looking forward to receiving nominations for Almond Valley, local hero, perhaps from their friends, family or work colleagues, maybe even from potential local heroes themselves. If you’ve got a good suggestion, please get in touch."
To nominate a Local Hero, contact Angela Constance MSP, Constituency Office: Unit 4 Ochil House, Beveridge Square, Dedridge, Livingston, EH54 6QF or email [email protected]

FACELIFT work at the historic Livingston skatepark is on track, Councillor Maria MacAulay was advised at the latest meeting of West Lothian Council's Livingston South Local Area Committee.
Councillor MacAuley had asked what the current position was.
Listed building consent was granted for a quarter of a million pounds facelift to the skatepark.
The restoration and preservation of the skatepark was instigated by Councillor Moira McKee Shemilt.
Work includes removing and repouring concrete in areas identified in a condition survey, removing old patch fixes, filling cracks and restoring the surfacing to original conditions.
Local man Kenny Omond initiated the start of the skatepark in the late 1970s, before it was taken up by Livingston Development Corporation architect Ian Urquhart and opened in 1981.
The Category B Listed skatepark is the oldest of its type in Scotland and one of only a few purpose-built concrete skateparks from the 1980s still remaining in the United Kingdom. It was granted Listed status by Historic Environment Scotland.
