🎯 On Target 🎯

Our cadets recently took part in a fantastic shooting session on the Air Rifle with 250 Halifax Squadron RAFAC, working through the Progressive Training and Cadet Live Firing Syllabus 🔍

This provided a great opportunity for cadets to develop their marksmanship skills, build confidence on the range, and reinforce the importance of safety, discipline, and focus 💪

It was also great for some of our junior cadets to shoot for the first time and take part in the Wing Inter-Squadron Air Rifle Competition. It was excellent to see cadets supporting each other, applying their training, and making real progress throughout the session 👏

A big thank you to Sqn Ldr Emms, Chief of Staff Strategy, for acting as our Range Conducting Officer and ensuring a safe and professional experience for all involved 🙏

✈️🎉 Celebrating 85 Years of the Air Cadets!🎉✈️

This year marks the 85th Anniversary of the Air Cadets — a proud milestone celebrating decades of inspiring young people through aviation, adventure, and opportunity 🌟

To commemorate the occasion, every member of the Squadron has been presented with a special challenge coin 🪙 — a lasting symbol of belonging, pride, and the shared history of the RAF Air Cadets.

It’s a fantastic way to recognise the contribution of cadets and staff, past and present, who have helped shape the organisation into what it is today 🙌

Here’s to 85 years of achievement — and many more to come! ✈️

⚽Sporting Success ⚽️

Congratulations to CDT Leyton McCaulsky for representing the Squadron at the Wing and Region 5-a-side football trials 👏

After a strong performance, CDT McCaulsky was selected to be part of the Regional Team — a fantastic achievement in itself 💪

The team went on to secure an impressive 2nd place overall 🥈⚽, showcasing great skill, teamwork, and determination throughout the competition.

We’re incredibly proud of his efforts and how well he represented the Squadron on a wider stage 🌟

🎯Air Rifle Shooting Success 🎯

Following an Air Rifle Range Day earlier this month, we’re proud to celebrate the fantastic achievements of several of our cadets as they progress through the shooting syllabus 👏

Cpl Naylor – Bronze Shot
Sgt Black – Blue Trained Shot & Bronze Shot
Sgt Sapsford – Silver Shot

A special mention goes to Sgt Sapsford, whose Silver Shot is the first ever achieved at 2490 Squadron — a brilliant milestone! 🌟

These achievements reflect the dedication, focus, and discipline shown by our cadets on the range. Well done to all involved — a great example of hard work paying off 💪

A huge congratulations to Cpl Lewis Naylor on successfully achieving their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s Award! 👏

This is a fantastic accomplishment that reflects months of dedication, perseverance, and hard work across volunteering, physical activity, skills, and expedition sections 💪🎒

Completing the Bronze award is no small feat, and we are very proud of Lewis for gaining this achievement 🌟

🎉Post 16 Progress 🎉

A huge congratulations to Sgt Austen Sapsford on being accepted into the Army Foundation College, Harrogate, this September! 🇬🇧💪

This is a brilliant achievement and comes after a rigorous and highly competitive selection process — a real testament to his commitment, resilience, and hard work 👏

Sgt Sapsford will be remaining with the Squadron over the summer, continuing to support and inspire fellow cadets before beginning this exciting new chapter in September 🌟

We’re incredibly proud and wish him every success for what lies ahead!

✈️🔧 Budding Engineers 🔧✈️

Our cadets recently took part in an exciting STEM challenge to design and build their own BloKarts 🛠️

Working in teams, they applied key design theory principles and experienced what it’s like in a real engineering environment — from planning and prototyping to testing and refining their builds 🔍⚙️

There were plenty of challenges along the way, but great teamwork, problem-solving, and resilience helped them push through 💪

The highlight of the evening? A timed race to put their creations to the test! 🏁⏱️ Speed, control, and design all played a part as cadets competed to see whose BloKart performed best.

An excellent example of learning by doing — and having fun while doing it! 🙌
