Huge congratulations to our Sustainability team 👏

Huge congratulations to our Sustainability team, who have been crowned Team of the Year at the HEFMA Awards! 🏅

Driving remarkable change across our six hospitals, the team has delivered key projects including solar installations, decarbonisation initiatives, sustainable travel schemes and wellbeing programmes.

Their work has helped tackle health inequalities and reduced carbon emissions by more than 8,600 tonnes of CO2e, supporting the UHL Group’s Sustainable Development Plan and NHS net zero commitments ♻

Nicola Daly, Head of Sustainability, said: "This award recognises the dedication and creativity across the team, as well as the strong partnerships, we’ve built both within our organisation and across the region.

“We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved so far, and we will continue working towards a healthier and more sustainable future for our communities.” 💚

The Sustainability team’s success sits alongside nine shortlisting’s for UHL Group, highlighting the exceptional work and talent of colleagues across our Estates and Facilities services.

We have expanded the Patient Engagement Portal (PEP), making it easier for you to receive appointment information, reminders and letters in a way that works best 💜

The Portal is now available across more services, including Antenatal Care, Fertility, Oncology, Gynaecology, Menopause, Perinatal Mental Health and many more.

PEP brings everything together in one secure place:

✅ Appointment letters available online
✅ Notifications sent by text and email
✅ Reminder messages to help patients stay prepared

Improving accessibility and inclusion has been a key priority, patients can now choose to receive communications in 10 languages, and a wide range of accessible formats including Braille, large print and more.

Patients who prefer paper will continue to receive letters by post.

Thank you to Everton in the Community for delivering some Starting Well Dads Boxes to our maternity ward 💙

Designed to support new fathers, these boxes promote the vital role dads play in early development - encouraging bonding time, boosting confidence, and helping dads support both baby and mum.

A brilliant initiative making a real difference to families from day one.

If you are a survivor of sexual abuse or violence you can show your card when you feel ready. It’s a gentle way to ask for care adjustments—like slower pacing, extra reassurance, or a chaperone.

Pick up a card in Gynaecology Outpatients reception or speak to a member of the team who are trauma aware and will be able to help you.

“I have found the cards really helpful and almost like a security blanket. I have found myself being able to express my needs safe in the knowledge that I have the card to help if I struggle. It has almost empowered me really. This is a fantastic project and very much needed.” – Andrea
