On 10th November 2025, all Tomato Energy customers were transferred to British Gas following Tomato Energy's administration. Ofgem's protective process meant your energy supply continued without interruption ✅

The inevitable has happened: Tomato Energy has officially ceased trading.

After months desperately seeking investor backing with no success, they've made the call to wind down entirely. Ofgem's now managing the transition of 14,000 customers through the Supplier of Last Resort process.

But here's what's interesting about this one...

The CEO was brutally honest in his shutdown announcement: "We didn't have the capital to support operations in this market."

Not a product problem. Not a customer service problem. Not even a market timing problem.

A capital problem.

When you don't have enough cash reserves to absorb wholesale volatility and regulatory enforcement, you're playing a losing game. This is the hard truth the energy sector refuses to acknowledge: you can execute flawlessly and still fail if your balance sheet isn't built for this market.
