Today marks one week since a woman's body was discovered in Stanley Park and a murder investigation was launched.
While significant enquiries have been carried out over the past week, this woman has still not been identified. It is important that we do not lose sight of the person at the heart of this investigation. Somewhere, there may be family members, friends or loved ones who are unaware of what has happened and are still searching for answers.
I would like to thank everyone who has already come forward with information and supported the investigation. The response from the public has been invaluable, and detectives continue to work tirelessly to establish the woman's identity and find those responsible for her death.
I know this case continues to cause concern and sadness within our communities. I want to reassure residents that Merseyside Police remain fully committed to this investigation, with dedicated resources focused on identifying the victim, understanding the circumstances surrounding her death and bringing those responsible to justice.
As enquiries continue, I would urge anyone who may have information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to come forward. If you are worried about speaking directly to police, information can also be passed anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers.
Every piece of information matters. Together, we can help provide answers for this woman and ensure her loved ones get the answers they deserve.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Merseyside Police or report anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
