🚨 DAY 9 – KNOW WHO TO CALL 🚨

📞 In an emergency, would you know who to call?

Different services exist for different situations, and knowing which one to use can help get the right assistance to you more quickly.

If you’re out walking in woodland, keep an eye out for one of our strangest fungi, the jelly ear, scientific name, Auricularia auricula-judae. Soft, velvety and slightly unusual in appearance, as it resembles a human ear.

Despite its unusual appearance, the jelly ear is a common sight across the UK and can be found throughout the year, especially in damp, shady locations. It grows mainly on dead or dying elder trees, although it can also be found on ash, beech and sycamore.

It's Zero Waste Week, and we're counting down to zero with a simple waste prevention idea every day.

Before something becomes waste, could you give it another purpose?

- Reuse containers and packaging around the home
- Find a new use for something you no longer need
- Pass useful items on to friends, family or your local community.

Reusing what we already have can help reduce waste and make the most of the resources that went into making those items in the first place.

Temporary partial closure of West Beach car park for maintenance - from 6pm on 21 September until approximately midday on 22 September, the southern section of West Beach car park, located south of the golf club, will be temporarily closed to facilitate essential relining work.

The closure is necessary to enable contractors to carry out the work safely and efficiently, and to improve the quality and condition of the parking bays and road markings in the car park.

Whilst every effort will be made to minimise disruption, the southern end of the car park will be unavailable during the work period. However, access to the northern section of the car park will remain available and the lower section can be accessed by foot.

This work has been scheduled to minimise disruption wherever possible, and the southern section of the car park will be reopened to the public as soon as the work is completed.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience and understanding while these improvements are carried out.

Hotham Park car park will be closed from 14 September for up to 8 weeks to allow essential drainage and resurfacing work to be carried out.

These improvements are necessary to address existing drainage issues and improve the overall condition and safety of the car park surface.

During the closure, motorists are asked to use alternative nearby car parks, including London Road car park. Please allow additional time for your journey where necessary.

We appreciate that this temporary closure may cause inconvenience, so we'd like to thank residents and visitors for your patience and understanding while these important improvement works are completed.

We'll post further updates as work progresses.
