Do you like a bit of DIY?
I'm a parish councillor and looking to start a working group to renovate the traditional telephone box on the the High Street.
We are "adopting" the box from BT and hoping to turn it into a village amenity (to be decided - watch out for another post asking for ideas!).
Ideally looking for keen painters and anyone with experience of renovating stuff. If you want to join me in making this landmark look fabulous, please email me on [email protected]

Development on The Hill, UPDATE:
For the last 3 days, members of the Parish Council and residents, have been attending the inquiry (appeal hearing) at the Guild Hall.
Although Canterbury City Council refused the planning application for 300 houses on The Hill, they have decided not to defend their decision at the inquiry and allowed the developers, Gladmans, unchallanged views, statistics, figures etc to persuade the Planning Inspector to overturn the refusal and allow the development.
The village put up a great fight and a huge "thank you" goes to Tim Bostock, Stephen Plunket, Tom Haynes and Henry Boucher as well as Cllr Melanie Moore and Cllr Peter Farrow. We all spoke and presented our own expertise to the Inspector and questioned, when we could, the expert witnesses presented by Gladmans.
It is now in the hands of the Inspector and we are likely to hear a decision in the next six weeks.
We will keep you posted with any news as soon as we can.

These stickers are available free from the Parish Council offices - to be stuck on your wheelie bin or in your window.
