PCSO Bex has been out walking around the town this afternoon and popped into Liskeard Library where she found out that they offer Digital Support Drop-ins. We often suggest to our community to report incidents online but tech can be difficult to navigate. Mark from Liskeard Library is on hand to help anyone who is having issues and may need some gentle guidance and support when it comes to reporting online and other online services.
Sessions are run Monday 10 - 1, Wednesday 11 - 2 and Thursday 12 - 3. Mark and the team are very friendly and helpful so feel free to pop in and say hello and see if they can help you. ๐Ÿ‘ฎ๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ ๐Ÿ’ป

As we reach the halfway point of the year, officers in the Liskeard Sector continue to achieve positive results in tackling prolific offending and protecting local businesses.

Over recent months, three prolific shoplifters operating within the area have all received custodial sentences following proactive work by officers and partner agencies. This is through the combined hard work of patrol teams, the neighbourhood police team, the neighbourhood support team, the crime management investigation team and Cornwall Council ASB team.

Joshua PIPER-WILSON and Ayden CONNORS were also issued with Criminal Behaviour Orders (CBOs) aimed at preventing further offending and protecting retailers and the wider community. Harry EVANS, who already had a CBO in place, was further charged for breaching his order.

This is following the successful launch of UKPAC within our force area which is a scheme designed to tackle business crime by connecting local business, police and other agencies. UKPAC has provided businesses with an easier way to report retail crime and provided a platform for communication between local businesses and the police. If youโ€™re a business local to Liskeard please consider signing up. More information can be found at https://orlo.uk/760hI or by contacting the Neighbourhood Team on [email protected]

We understand the impact shoplifting and repeat offending has on businesses, staff, and the community, and we hope that these recent success stories show that Liskeard Police will not tolerate retail crime.

We would like to thank local businesses and members of the public for their continued support and reporting of incidents and encourage members of the public to continue to report incidents to us so that we can achieve positive results such as these.

A community of like-minded retail, hospitality, and rural businesses, alongside police, crime prevention agencies, and legal professionals โ€” all working together to improve trading environments and community safety.

The requirement for every dog to be on leads to protect the ground nesting birds and young animals finishes on 31st July however they should be under control throughout the year if near livestock

โ— Cornwall man jailed after breaking court orderโ—

25-year-old man, Harry Evans, of Well lane [Liskeard], has been sentenced to 10-months in prison after being caught in shops he was banned from stepping foot inside.

He pleaded guilty to three breaches of his criminal behaviour order (CBO) between 11 and 30 April after he entered retailers he was barred from in Liskeard and Barnstaple.

The court heard how just weeks after being served a police notice not to enter Spar, Co-Op or Poundland, Evans continued to enter the stores.

Evans was also sentenced for 10 shoplifting offences which took place in Liskeard and Barnstaple in April.

He appeared at Truro Magistrates Court on Tuesday 19 May.

CBOs are a vital tool for us when dealing with prolific offenders - we hope this positive result shows just how effective they can be in preventing harm across our communities and providing respite to local retailers.

This outcome was achieved through work carried out by the new East Cornwall Neighbourhood Support Team. They are in place to supplement existing neighbourhood policing provision and provide targeted support with specialist skills around East Cornwall.

In this case, the team were key in locating and arresting Evans, as well as collating evidence to support the investigation.
