New survey about the proposed new parking on Station Road Lambeg.

Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council has launched a public consultation on proposals for a new 13-space car park at Station Road, Lambeg.

The proposal aims to help address parking pressures, improve access to local facilities and enhance safety. Before any decision is made, it's important that local residents have the opportunity to have their say.

A public consultation event will take place on Wednesday 5 August, from 2.00pm to 7.00pm, at Lambeg Parish Church Hall.

The survey remains open until 16 August.

Whether you support the proposal, have concerns, or would like changes made, I would encourage everyone affected to take part and make their views known.

🚗 Great news for Lisburn!

The one-hour grace period for paid on-street parking in Lisburn has now been made permanent, giving visitors extra flexibility to enjoy our city centre and support local businesses.

Lisburn Chamber President, Ruth Young, welcomed the announcement, saying it gives people more time to enjoy everything Lisburn has to offer and is another positive step in supporting our city centre.

If you're planning a visit, why not leave the car at home? Lisburn is well connected by both bus and rail, making it easy to travel sustainably while supporting our local businesses.

I welcome the strengthening of police powers to tackle the dangerous and anti-social use of e-scooters and scramblers.

This is an issue that residents across Castlereagh South and the wider council area have raised with me time and again. I've heard from motorists, pedestrians, parents and older residents who are genuinely concerned about the risks posed when these vehicles are used irresponsibly on our roads, footpaths and in public spaces.

I have consistently raised these concerns with the PSNI and through the PCSP, so I welcome this important change.

Previously, police often had to issue a warning before they could seize an e-scooter or scrambler, unless further offences were committed. Under the strengthened legislation, the PSNI can now, in certain circumstances, seize these vehicles immediately without first issuing a warning.

This is a significant step forward. It gives officers a much stronger power to deal with dangerous and reckless behaviour there and then, helping to prevent incidents before someone is seriously injured.

This is about common sense and public safety. It is not about unfairly targeting young people, but about tackling irresponsible behaviour that puts others at risk.

I hope these new powers will enable the PSNI to act swiftly and effectively to make our roads, estates and public spaces safer for everyone.
