Today, we have completed the installation of a new bus shelter in Passfield. Beautifully made and built by Hampshire Garden Structures in oak, the shelter will keep local residents protected from inclement protection and offer some protection from the road.

The bus shelter was funded by S106 developer contributions provided by East Hampshire District Council and we have been able to use the land for the build with the kind permission of the National Trust.

The bus shelter will be owned and maintained by the Parish Council.

Roadworks in The Square/London Road

Our County Councillor, Debbie Curnow-Ford, has contacted us today with the following information she has gleaned from Clancy who are responsible for the current roadworks.

"We appreciate the frustration being experienced by residents, businesses and road users as a result of the ongoing gas main replacement works in Liphook. We understand that the closure of London Road, combined with the temporary traffic signals has resulted in significant congestion, particularly during peak periods.

During engineering works on London Road, Liphook, we were undertaking the replacement of the existing metallic gas main with polyethylene (PE) pipe to upgrade the infrastructure and reduce the risk of future leaks.

Works were progressing as planned until reaching the upper section near the junction with Longmoor Road. At this point, a strong smell of gas was detected further along the route. SGN attended and confirmed multiple leaks on the metallic main beyond the originally scoped work area.

Due to the safety risk, emergency repairs were required. An emergency permit was requested and approved to extend the scope of works. The affected section has now been fully replaced with new PE pipe up to and beyond the identified leak locations.
We are currently completing reinstatement works and expect to be clear of the junction by Saturday morning.

Thank you again for highlighting these concerns. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and work with all parties involved to reduce the impact on the local community"

Sharing on behalf of Hampshire County Council

This summer we will have around 15 Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) schemes running across the East Hampshire area, each offering a variety of fun activities and tasty meals for children and young people who receive benefit-related free school meals (FSM). We would love your support in ensuring as many eligible families as possible are aware of the opportunity. Please note, all schools and Local Childrenโ€™s Partnership organisations have already been notified of the opportunity.

Funded by the Department for Education, the HAF programme enables local authorities to offer healthy food and enriching activities for free to children who receive benefit-related FSM during term time. Local authorities also have discretion to use a percentage of their funding to provide free or subsidised HAF places for children who are not in receipt of benefits-related FSM but who the local authority believe could benefit from HAF provision.

For summer 2026, we have introduced a new central booking system, which will make it easier for families to find and book HAF activities, and we are adding new schemes all the time as we head towards the live bookings date. The new system includes builtโ€‘in eligibility checking, so parents / carers no longer need to use the previously issued HAF codes when making bookings.

Families in East Hampshire can browse the East Hants HAF bookings webpage to find local schemes and register their interest. Once registered, parents/carers will be sent an automatic email reminder to complete their booking when summer bookings open at 9am on Monday 22 June 2026.

HAF FAQs are available on the connect4communities website: Hampshire Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) frequently asked questions | Hampshire County Council

The HAF team can be contacted with any queries by emailing [email protected], with the subject line FAO HAF.

The consultation closes on 31st July, so there is still time to have your say.

The links to the survey are in the original post below. There is a general version of the survey and one for younger residents, as it is really important for us to hear their voices too.
