RAF Linton-on-Ouse HIVE The HIVE is an information network available to all members of the service community, serving both married and single personnel, together with their families.

RAF Linton-on-Ouse is home to No. 1 Flying Training School and is one of the busiest airfields in the country. Today the role of RAF Linton-on-Ouse is to provide basic fast-jet pilot training for Royal Navy, RAF and Foreign & Commonwealth students in preparation for advanced training on the Hawk at RAF Valley, and refresher and instructor training for qualified RAF and Royal Navy pilots, the Stati

on operates the Tucano T1. In addition to the airfield at Linton-on-Ouse, No 1 FTS operates relief landing grounds at Church Fenton, Dishforth and Topcliffe. Linton-on-Ouse is located 10 miles east of the A1, 5 miles west from the A19 (York road), and 6 miles north east from the A59 (Harrogate road). Linton-on-Ouse is close to popular tourist spots. In York you can visit world-class museums, historic buildings and art galleries. There are quaint pubs, chic café bars and restaurants to relax and take in the atmosphere of an attractive, vibrant, modern city in the shadow of the beautiful ancient York Minster. The city also has cinemas, theatres and nightclubs for endless entertainment. Thirsk, Ripon, Harrogate and Knaresborough are a short journey from Linton and each holds a charm of its own. A little further a-field, but still within easy travelling time, are Leeds, Sheffield’s Meadow Hall, Manchester and The Metro Centre Gateshead – all great for shopping trips or fun days out with the family.

Our Story

RAF Linton-on-Ouse is based in North Yorkshire. The Station's former role was to train fast jet pilots for the RAF and Royal Navy. The Station's current role is to support the Yorkshire Universities Air Squadron and draw-down RAF Operations in accordance with the closure plan. Linton-on-Ouse is located 10 miles east of the A1, 5 miles west from the A19 (York road), and 6 miles north east from the A59 (Harrogate road). Linton-on-Ouse is close to popular tourist spots.
