We reserve the right to remove comments and block you if we feel you offend, intimidate, hurt, or deliberately provoke specific people or groups of people. We welcome open debate; we welcome free speech that allows you to articulate their opinions without fear of retaliation. But we do not welcome discourse from a

If anything you post tips the balance towards hate speech โ€“ this is defined as anything public that expresses hate or encourages violence towards a person or group based on something such as race, religion, age, s*x, nationality, ethnicity, disability, or s*xual orientation โ€“ or that post anything that threatens, incites, or encourages hatred or violence in any way, we may record this as a crime and investigate you in the same way we would as if this had happened on the street. Be aware of what you post, be mindful of how others may receive it, and, above all, be kind to one another. Thank you. We are continuing to receive worrying reports around people swimming in open water during the hot weather.

Sgt Alex Taylor, the Community Beat Sergeant for the local area, said: โ€œWe are continuing to receive reports of people swimming at Apex Lakes & Millennium Lakes. This is of great concern to us given the tragic loss of much-loved Declan at the weekend.

โ€œWe understand the temptation during hot weather, but open water can be dangerous and life-threatening. The water will still be cold compared to the air temperature.

โ€œPlease look after your friends, make safe choices, and help keep everyone safe.โ€

The Royal Life Saving Society Water Safety Code is:

โ€ข Stop and think โ€“ Look out for dangers and signage, and follow any advice given.
โ€ข Stay together โ€“ Always go with friends or family and choose lifeguarded locations where possible.
โ€ข In an emergency โ€“ Call 999. Do not enter the water to attempt a rescue; call for help.
โ€ข Float โ€“ If you find yourself in trouble, stay calm, float on your back, and call for help. If someone else is in difficulty, throw them something that floats.

๐Ÿ“ฃ Neighbourhood Policing Update โ€“ Preventing Opportunity Theft

โš ๏ธ Over the past week, a review of daily crime reports has highlighted a number of opportunity thefts & attempt thefts in North Hykeham

These include:
๐Ÿš— Vehicles being left unlocked overnight, & people getting in / stealing from them.
โžก๏ธ Reports of car door handles being tried to achieve the above
๐Ÿ  Reports of door handles to homes being checked

๐Ÿš” Where there are clear lines of enquiry or evidential opportunities, these incidents are being actively investigated by response colleagues.

๐Ÿ‘‰ While these reports can be concerning, there are some simple steps that can significantly reduce the risk of becoming a victim:
โœ… Always lock your vehicle, even when parked outside your home.
๐Ÿ’ผ Remove all valuables from your car overnight.
๐Ÿ” Ensure all doors & windows are securely locked before going to bed
๐Ÿ“น Where possible, park in well-lit areas or within view of CCTV.
๐Ÿก Consider investing in home security such as alarms, lighting, or cameras

Most of these offences are opportunistic, meaning offenders are simply looking for easy access. Taking a few extra moments to secure your property can make a real difference.

If you notice suspicious behaviour in your area, please report it to us. In an emergency, always call 999

๐Ÿ“ฃ COMMUNITY ALERT ๐Ÿ“ฃ

๐Ÿš” Sergeant Taylor was on community patrol in Metheringham last night when he was flagged down by members of the community. He was told that people were knocking on doors trying to sell cleaning products.

โžก๏ธ Three persons from out of county were stopped and spoken to with their details obtained. They did not have the correct paperwork allowing them to sell door to door.

โš ๏ธ Please stay vigilant and check in on neighbours who may be vulnerable to doorstep scams, particularly elderly or isolated residents.

๐Ÿ”’ Remember - if in doubt, keep them out!

๐Ÿšจ Important Message for Young People & Parents ๐Ÿšจ

โžก๏ธ Weโ€™ve recently seen a rise in young people attempting โ€œurban exploringโ€ at a local property ๐Ÿš๏ธ Not only is this illegal, but it is also extremely dangerous.

โš ๏ธ We don't care if you've seen it on TikTok - this is someone's home.

๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ A number of individuals have now been identified, and they will be dealt with by police in due course.

๐Ÿ”’ We are continuing to carry out patrols in the area and are working closely with North Kesteven District Council and the property owner to ensure the building is secured permanently.

โ— Please remember:

Entering boarded-up properties causes Criminal Damage & might be considered as Burglary.
You could be putting yourself and others at serious risk.
Positive and robust action will be taken if you are located at the property or identified as being involved.

๐Ÿ“ฃ Parents and guardians โ€“ please speak to your children about the dangers and consequences of this behaviour.

๐Ÿค If you have any information or concerns, please contact us.

๐Ÿšจ E-Scooters & E-Bikes ๐Ÿšจ

๐Ÿฃ As we head into the Easter weekend & school holidays, we'd like to remind our communities about the laws surrounding e-scooters and e-bikes ๐Ÿšฒโšก

โžก๏ธ While these can be exciting gifts - itโ€™s important to understand the law & help keep everyone safe. ๐Ÿ‘‡

โ—E-scooters
Privately owned e-scooters are illegal to use on UK public roads, pavements, & cycle lanes; acting as motor vehicles requiring tax, insurance, & licensing. They can only be used on private land with permission.

โš ๏ธ E-bikes
Currently anyone over the age of 14 can ride a legal e-bike, as long as it has pedals, an output of no more than 250W, & the motor does not power the bike at speeds above 15mph (24 kmph).

๐Ÿ‘ฎ Our Approach
We will always try to engage, educate, & encourage people using e-scooters & e-bikes, applying discretion where appropriate. This may include offering advice or giving official warnings ๐Ÿ‘

๐Ÿšซ However, if a person is involved in anti-social behaviour, or using e-scooters & e-bikes dangerously, we will take positive & robust action โ€“ including seizure at the cost of the owner.

โžก๏ธ What can you do?
โœ”๏ธ Check what youโ€™re buying.
โœ”๏ธ Understand the legal requirements.
โœ”๏ธ Talk to your children about safe and responsible use

๐Ÿค Letโ€™s work together to keep our communities safe.

๐Ÿซ Happy Easter from the Hykeham & Bracebridge Heath NPT - if you see us out & about over the weekend please stop us & say hello ๐Ÿ‘‹

Following a break-in at the Scout Hut on Dalewood in Bracebridge, reported on Tuesday, the local Beat Manager has issued an appeal for information. PC 47 Chris Bayes-Walker said, โ€œWe are extremely disappointed regarding the reported break in at the Scout hut on Dalewood, Bracebridge, Lincoln during which significant damage was caused, and several fire extinguishers were deliberately discharged. In addition to the vandalism, a number of items were stolen, including several axes, one โ€˜Resusci Annieโ€™ first aid training doll, multiple first aid kits, and a rucksack. This irresponsible behaviour has not only vandalised a valued community space, resulted in the loss of important training equipment but has also left the Scout group facing a substantial clean up operation and unable to use the facility whilst itโ€™s made safe again.

โ€œWe are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area or who has information that could assist our investigation, quoting crime reference 26000172826. Please get in touch with us via 101, online, through the Neighbourhood Poling Team via [email protected] or anonymously through Crimestoppers.

โ€œDespite the disruption, it has been heartwarming to hear the Scouting community have rallied together to support the clean up efforts. Their resilience and teamwork are a testament to the spirit of the community, and an excellent example of the values of the Scouts in practice.โ€
