We have secured £270,000 from the Government’s Playground Fund, which aims to improve access to high-quality, accessible and inclusive playgrounds in areas of greatest need.

Based on a detailed review of play provision across the city, we have decided that the funding will support improvements at:
📍 The Backies, Moorland
📍 King George V Playing Field, Glebe
📍 Sudbrooke Drive Recreation Area, Minster

The investment will focus on improving the quality and accessibility of the play areas for children and families, with local communities, schools and residents helping shape the improvements.

We are also looking to build on this funding, subject to approval by the council's Executive on 15 September. If approved, the additional council and Section 106 funding would take the total capital investment in Lincoln’s play areas to more than £518,000, supporting improvements at The Lawn and Nene Road alongside the three sites above.

The plans are expected to be developed with local communities before improvements are delivered through a phased programme between May and December 2027.

Looking for peace of mind when planning for your funeral, or that of a loved one?

We’re inviting the public to learn more about the work of Lincoln Crematorium at a free open day, taking place today, Saturday 5 September, from 10am until 2pm.

The day is an opportunity to take a guided tour of the West Chapel, the Crematory and the Garden of Remembrance, helping you learn more about the care taken at every stage of the process.

You will also have the chance to ask us any questions you may have in an informal setting, view memorial options, and learn about the support available to families before, during and after a bereavement.
