A recent dedicated policing operation aimed at tackling crime and anti-social behaviour in Lincoln city centre has resulted in 14 arrests, alongside the seizure of drugs, weapons and cash.

Operation Positive was launched in response to concerns raised by the community and partner organisations around drug-related activity, violence and associated offending in the city centre. The operation has brought together our Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) and partners to take targeted action where it is needed most.

The arrests have included offences linked to possession of weapons, drugs, Class A substances, theft, public order offences, robbery, breach of Community Protection Notices and drug supply.

Alongside proactive enforcement activity, officers have worked closely with partners, with organisations providing positive feedback on the operation and its impact.

Importantly, police have seen a significant increase in information being reported by the public during the operation.

Neighbourhood Policing Inspector Daniel Gilmore said:

"Operation Positive has been about taking a proactive and visible approach to addressing the concerns raised by people who live, work and visit Lincoln city centre.

"The results we have achieved so far demonstrate the value of targeted patrols, partnership working and, crucially, the support we have received from the community.

"I would like to thank everyone who has reported information to us. The increase in reporting sharing has played a significant role in helping us identify issues, target our resources effectively and take action against those involved in criminal activity.

"We do not want residents or visitors to be concerned by these figures. The operation reflects our commitment to tackling issues before they escalate and ensuring Lincoln remains a safe and welcoming place for everyone.

"Dedicated patrols in the city centre are helping to prevent incidents from occurring, and the information we are receiving continues to help shape our response.

"We would encourage anyone who witnesses suspicious activity, criminal behaviour or anti-social behaviour to continue reporting it to us. Every piece of information helps.

The operation has been supported by a wide range of partners and community groups, with police continuing to work closely with local organisations to identify concerns and respond quickly to emerging issues.

Please avoid Riseholme Roundabout after an overturned crane is causing delays.

Update 6.15pm: The road has now reopened.

Update 3:05pm: The stretch of road between Riseholme roundabout and the Nettleham roundabout is also now closed and will be for the next few hours. This is to allow for recovery of the vehicles.

Delays are expected after a crane overturned at the Riseholme Roundabout in Lincoln. This is affecting all traffic approaching the roundabout so please avoid the area if possible. Closures are being put in place. This was reported at 11.17am and we are still assessing the situation but at this stage, we do not believe there are any serious injuries. Prolific shoplifter jailed after admitting five theft offences

A prolific shoplifter has been jailed after admitting a series of offences committed across Lincolnshire.

Tanita Burton, 35, of no fixed address, was sentenced to 16 weeks' imprisonment after appearing at Lincoln Magistrates' Court on 22 August 2026, where she pleaded guilty to five counts of shop theft.

The offences were committed while she was subject to a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO), which had previously been imposed to address her persistent offending.

The original CBO was issued on 18 December 2024, prohibiting Burton from entering any retail premises in the City of Lincoln for a period of three years, with the exception of Tesco on Wragby Road and Co‑op Pharmacy on Monks Road.

Further amendments were made to the order on 20 November 2025, extending restrictions to retail premises in Gainsborough, with exceptions only for Morrisons on Heapham Road and Co‑op Pharmacy on Market Street. The order also required Burton to make staff aware of her presence when entering Morrisons.

A number of further breaches of the order were also considered by the court and were withdrawn.

In addition to the custodial sentence, Burton was ordered to pay £50 in compensation.

A man has been arrested following a suspected s*xual assault in Boultham Park, Lincoln.

Officers arrested the 26-year-old man at around 8.10pm this evening (21 August). He remains in custody.

This followed an initial call at 7.17pm reporting that a teenage girl had been attacked. She was taken to hospital following the incident.

A section of the park has been cordoned off while we investigate and this will extend into Saturday.

We appreciate that this is a concerning incident but would ask members of the public to avoid speculation while we investigate the circumstances.

A man linked to an organised crime gang who were supplying large quantities of class A and class B drugs across Lincoln has been jailed.

A man has been sentenced to three years and three months in prison for dealing class A and B drugs following an investigation by our Serious and Organised Crime Unit (SOCU).

Martyn McCord, 24, of Heron Drive Gainsborough, appeared at Lincoln Crown Court on Friday 21 August 2026.

The court heard that McCord was linked to an organised crime gang who were supplying class A and B drugs in kilo amounts across the Lincoln area between June and October 2025. Following a warrant executed at an address on Swift Gardens on 1 July 2025, a rucksack was seized that contained £2,855 in cash, a lock knife, 18 grams of ketamine and 80 grams of co***ne. Fingerprints for McCord were found on the packaging of a blue sandwich bag that contained just under 28 grams of co***ne.

A warrant was subsequently executed on 10 October 2025 at the home address of McCord where several mobile phones were seized and downloaded. Analysis of these phones showed that McCord was concerned in the supply of co***ne, ketamine and cannabis and that he had multiple people working for him, dealing the drugs to customers.

McCord had a large customer base and was at times owed £28,000 in drug debts. He also tried to arrange the purchase of multiple kilograms-worth of ketamine from an upstream supplier.

Analysis of the seized phones showed that McCord regularly sent out messages advertising for the sale of co***ne, ketamine, and cannabis.

The SOCU officer in charge of this case, Detective Sergeant Adam Petty, said: "Removing offenders like this from our communities helps disrupt the availability of harmful drugs and prevents further damage to individuals, families and neighbourhoods. However, we remain relentless in our efforts to tackle organised crime, support vulnerable people and work alongside partner agencies to make our streets a safer place for everyone."

Anyone involved in drug supply should be under no illusion that we continue to use all available powers to identify offenders, bring them before the courts to keep the people of Lincolnshire safe.

Lincoln offenders sentenced for robbery each getting over three years in prison.

Two men have been jailed for robbery after a Lincoln taxi driver had his mobile phone stolen.

Liam O’Leary aged 46, of Boultham Park Road, Lincoln was jailed for 3 years and 4 months and Shane McHale, aged 23, of Jarvis Close, Lincoln was jailed for 3 years and 2 months.

The two men appeared at Lincoln Crown Court for sentencing on the 18 August having pleaded guilty to the offence which was committed on 31 March 2026.

Officers were alerted to the incident by a member of the public who witnessed what appeared to be an attack on the taxi driver in his car on Dixon Street, after which the two men ran off. The taxi driver had been restrained and punched to the head causing bleeding.

Swiftly tracking the victim’s phone and using CCTV, officers found O’Leary in his flat nearby, along with McHale. The victim’s phone was also recovered at the address.

This efficient and effective investigation was made possible with the support of community members, the reporting witness, and the victim in this case, and we would like to extend our gratitude for their cooperation and bravery.

Three people have been arrested on suspicion of supplying Class A drugs after officers responded to reports of suspected drug dealing at a property in Lincoln.

Officers were called to an address on Carr Street, Lincoln, on Wednesday 19 August following concerns that drug dealing was taking place at the property.

Following enquiries at the scene, officers searched three individuals at the address.

A 37-year-old man, a 31-year-old man, and a 31-year-old woman were all arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs.

They have all been released on bail whilst enquiries continue.

Neighbourhood Policing Team Community Beat Manager PC Witton said: "Drug-related activity can have a significant impact on our communities, affecting residents, businesses, and those who are most vulnerable. It can often be linked to wider issues such as violence, exploitation, anti-social behaviour, and acquisitive crime.

"Tackling the supply of illegal drugs remains a priority for us, and we will continue to act on information provided by members of the public. I would encourage anyone who has concerns about drug activity in their area to report it to us, as the information you provide can be vital in helping us take action."

A heartbreaking account from a Lincolnshire family about the devastation that followed a driver's bad decision on the road.

Police are patrolling Diamond Park area, Birchwood, Lincoln, after reports of a man exposing himself.

We’ve received a report that a man was seen exposing himself in Diamond Park, a play park on Staverton Crescent, Lincoln. The incident is reported to have happened around 6pm on Wednesday 15 July. The man is described as white, around 6ft tall and of medium build, wearing a hoodie with the hood up and black joggers.

A second report has been made that the same man was seen again on Saturday 18 July around 4.10pm in the same area. This time the man did not commit any offences.

Sgt Samantha Wootton, Neighbourhood Policing for South Lincoln, said: “These reports have come from young children who were understandably extremely upset by what they have seen.

“We have stepped up patrols in the area and ask that anyone who sees anything suspicious or that concerns them to get in touch. It’s helpful to have good descriptions if that is possible. I’ve heard that people feel they wish to try and seek this man out themselves; I ask that this does not happen, it isn’t helpful, can put members of our community at risk and equally may potentially compromise police enquiries.
