As mentioned at last week’s Annual Parish Meeting, Limpsfield Parish Council is likely to be taking on the Stoneleigh Road allotments from Tandridge District Council in the near future as part of the Community Asset Transfer scheme, helping protect these valuable community spaces for the future 🌱🪴

We’d love to hear from current and prospective tenants — and if you’d be interested in joining a WhatsApp group for updates, sharing resources or asking for help, please email: [email protected]

A friendly reminder to all current tenants to keep plots tidy, well maintained and actively cultivated. The plots are not to be used simply as an extension to private gardens, although we appreciate many are tenanted by adjoining properties.

Please remember that fences, hedges, bonfires, glass structures, bath tubs, play equipment, unauthorised sheds and household waste are *not permitted* on site: We’ve spotted a few unsuitable items, including fencing and loose wires, furniture and even a shower screen by the entrance to an adjacent garden - please remove the above as soon as possible. The allotments are a wonderful community asset and we want to keep the site safe, productive and enjoyable for everyone.

There’s some amazing work going on with a couple of the neglected plots being completely transformed over recent weeks, which is brilliant to see. 🪴

We have worked closely with TDC over the winter to start to clear rubbish and overgrown areas, and cut back the overgrown laurels along the access path. The site is already looking much better, and we are keen to continue to make improvements if / when we take ownership.

There are still a couple of completely overgrown plots which may have become too much for their tenants. If you do not wish to or can’t keep your allotment maintained, please let Angela Sharkie at TDC know immediately.
Thanks and see you soon! 🌼🥕

What an incredible job Andrew Jackson has done refurbishing our wonderful K6 phone box back to its former glory but for a new purpose… as a lending library and occasional exhibition venue.
The parish council adopted the box from BT following its decommissioning and we are very grateful to Andrew - aka Hire a Husband (we all need one of those!) for his superb work, and Unicorn Restorations for all their advice.
And thanks so much to Cameron McIntosh for his generous grant from YFS to add to the parish council’s own funding pot, ensuring this wonderful heritage item can be used for the community for many years to come.

Sadly, the oak tree on Tidys Green — the small parcel of common land near the A25/Detillens Lane junction — will need to be felled.
The tree has been suffering from significant disease and has been carefully monitored over the winter and into spring in the hope that it might recover. Unfortunately, Tandridge District Council’s Tree and Woodland Officer has now confirmed that the tree has died and will need to be removed before it becomes a safety risk.
We know many residents will be sorry to see this much-loved tree go and thank everyone for their understanding.

We’re loving the new railing planters on the footpath to Pebble Hill - thanks to Cllr Cameron McIntosh for funding them in his Your Fund Surrey Grant. They have improved the ugly railings no end!
Thanks also to CJS Plants for providing and installing them.

Congratulations to our new East Surrey Councillors, Deb Shiner (Independent) and Cameron McIntosh (Conservative).
Politics aside, this is the best result we could have hoped for in this very important transitional time.
Two genuine candidates who are very experienced in the local landscape from both Tandridge and Surrey perspectives.
Deb is the current Vice Chair of Tandridge District Council, and Cameron has been our Surrey County Councillor for many years.
Oxted and Limpsfield now have the safest hands to take us forward.
Meet them both at the upcoming Limpsfield APM on 14 May at St Peter’s Church Hall, Limpsfield.

Local Government Reorganisation – What It Means for Limpsfield Parish Council

The Government has now formally laid the Surrey (Structural Changes) Order, which sets out the reorganisation of local government across Surrey. This will see the abolition of Surrey County Council and all 11 district and borough councils, including Tandridge District Council, and their replacement with two new unitary authorities: East Surrey Council and West Surrey Council.

Elections for the new councils will take place on 7 May 2026. Councillors elected at that point will initially serve as a “shadow authority”, preparing for the transition before the new councils take full responsibility on 1 April 2027.

Please ensure you are registered to vote ahead of the 7 May elections.
