🌿 A simple change that makes a real difference.

This roundabout at Cannock Road, Burntwood Road and Miner's Way has been given a thorough clean as part of our Clean and Green programme, helping to create a more welcoming entrance into Burntwood.

The work has been funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, with local councillors identifying projects that will make a visible difference to their communities.

Clean and Green is a programme investing in practical improvements across Lichfield District – from cleaner public spaces and environmental enhancements to projects that help boost community pride.

We know many residents have raised concerns about activity on land off Woodhouses Road, Burntwood.

Lichfield District Council has obtained a court order which takes immediate effect and prevents any further unauthorised development or expansion of the site while legal proceedings continue.

As this remains an ongoing legal matter, we are unable to comment further at this stage. Link to the full statement in the comments below.

Most residents will have contact with our revenues and benefits teams at some point, whether that's paying council tax, claiming discounts or exemptions, applying for council tax support, or getting help when circumstances change.

Over the past year, the team has:

💷 Helped 5,346 residents receive council tax support
🤝 Supported 1,478 residents through housing benefit
🏢 Managed business rates accounts for 3,078 local businesses
🏠 Managed council tax accounts for 50,059 households across the district

Every day, the team helps residents understand their accounts, access support they are entitled to and manage payments when they need additional help.

It's one of many services delivered behind the scenes that supports households, businesses and communities across Lichfield District.

The team has also been shortlisted for a national Local Government Chronicle (LGC) Award for its innovative same-day council tax support service, which helps residents receive support more quickly when their circumstances change. 🏆

🚭 A Burntwood shop has been closed for the second time in six months after illegal ci******es and vapes were discovered during a joint operation involving our Environmental Health team, Staffordshire Trading Standards and Staffordshire Police.

More than 5,700 ci******es, 67 illegal vapes and rolling to***co were seized, and Cannock Magistrates' Court has granted a Closure Order on the premises with immediate effect.

This is the second time the business has been subject to the strongest closure powers currently available under legislation. While the law currently limits closure orders to a maximum of three months, we will continue working with our partners to investigate illegal activity and take robust enforcement action wherever the evidence allows. ⚖️

The sale of illegal to***co and vapes poses risks to public health, undermines legitimate businesses and is often linked to wider criminal activity.
