South Ribble Borough Council

South Ribble Borough Council We are a council in Lancashire serving the borough of South Ribble delivering services to residents. When attending the Civic Centre, please wear a mask.

Our £2.8 million investment into Worden Hall is set to be completed this summer, making the space useful for the modern world. The improvements will allow the historic building to cater for small weddings and other events once opened. A high-quality retail space will also be available for local traders and providing multi-use spaces for office and educational use. To transform the leisure offer in

the borough we have invested £1.8 million to create a brand new 3G playing pitch hub at Withy Grove Park. The facility will have two 3G artificial sport pitches, complimented by a fully accessible, state of the art sports pavilion. Work on the flagship McKenzie Arms site has begun, which will deliver much needed affordable homes across the borough. We have also proposed to invest £2.4 million to improve South Ribble’s parks and open spaces and £200,000 for improvements to smaller open spaces and play areas. In 2019, we declared a Climate Emergency and pledged to be Carbon Neutral by 2030 which we are still working towards. As part of the work towards this we have vowed to plant 110,000 trees – one for every resident in the borough, with over 90k planted so far. We are always looking for people to join the community so why not check out our job vacancies here: https://www.southribble.gov.uk/currentvacancies

Due to ongoing restrictions related to COVID-19, general public access for council services will be on an appointment basis only. To book an appointment call Customer Services on 01772 625 625. Do not attend if you feel you may have any symptoms of COVID-19. You can get in touch with Gateway during our opening hours, to enquire about everything from bins to benefits. We also operate an emergency contact number out of these hours, which is 01772 625499. You can report a range of queries on our website too, such as a missed bin or fly-tipping, which is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Visit: https://www.southribble.gov.uk/

June is Pride month and to celebrate we have raised the rainbow flag above our Civic Centre, alongside the Union Flag and the South Ribble flag. This is a small but visible way of showing our support for LGBTQ+ communities and celebrating diversity across our borough 🏳️‍🌈

With warm weather expected to continue across Lancashire this weekend, many people will be heading outdoors to enjoy the sunshine.

As temperatures rise, please remember a few simple steps to stay safe and help protect Lancashire:
• Open water can be colder and more unpredictable than it looks. Please avoid swimming in lakes, reservoirs and rivers.
• Dry conditions increase the risk of wildfires. Leave BBQs and campfires at home and pack a picnic instead.

Our crews are on duty 24/7, but we all have a part to play in keeping ourselves, others and Lancashire safe.
Let's enjoy the sunshine responsibly and look after Lancashire together.
