Tour of Britain Stage Finish in Leyburn: Important Road Closure and Access Information
π΄ Leyburn is preparing to welcome the Lloyds Tour of Britain Men Stage 4 finish on Saturday 5 September 2026. The event provides a fantastic opportunity to showcase our town to a national audience and welcome thousands of visitors to the area. Further information, maps and updates are available on the Town Council's Tour of Britain webpage.
To ensure the safe running of the race, a number of road closures, parking restrictions and traffic management measures will be in place throughout the day.
Town Centre Road Closures
Market Place, Harmby Road and Railway Street will be closed from 6.00am until 7.00pm on Saturday 5 September 2026.
Residents and visitors are advised to plan journeys accordingly and allow extra time for travel.
Parking Restrictions
Parking suspensions along the race route will be in force from 8.00pm on Friday 4 September until the race has passed.
π Please do not park on the race route during this period, as vehicles may be required to move for safety reasons and to allow the event to proceed.
Race Route Closures
The following roads will be closed between 1.30pm and 4.30pm:
A684 Middleham Road (Brentwood Junction to the garage)
A6108 (Grove Square to the Bolton Arms, Wensley Road)
In addition, a rolling road closure will operate on the A6108 Middleham Road between approximately 2.15pm and 3.45pm, with traffic held for up to 30 minutes while the race passes.
Resident Access
We appreciate that these restrictions may cause some temporary inconvenience. Residents are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the closure arrangements and make any essential journeys before road closures come into effect where possible.
π Residents whose properties are located around Market Place and within the controlled access area will require an access pass to gain entry during the event.
Please visit the Town Council website to check whether your property is affected and contact the Town Council office if you require an access pass.
π In addition, Leyburn Town Council representatives will be available in Market Place on Friday 4 September between 3.30pm and 6.00pm to answer questions, provide information and assist residents with access pass enquiries.
Where safe and practicable, access arrangements will be managed by event staff, however there will be periods when movement around the town is restricted due to race operations.
