Dales Young Rangers

Spaces available for the next young Dales Young Rangers task day on Saturday 13th of January at the Dales Countryside Museum. All 12 to 17 year olds welcome. It is Archaeology Day, suitable for anyone who knows a lot or nothing about old things, we are learning about archaeology sites and ceramics - you will end the day making your very own pinch pot.

On Saturday 11th November the Young Rangers are at Marrick Park in Swaledale near Richmond. Come join us with Christa our Tees-Swale Farming & Nature Officer to remove tree guards and explore this amazing site. Young Rangers is open to all 12 to 17 year olds. 10am to 2pm. Email [email protected] to come along, we have a few places available so please tell your friends.

On Wednesday 25th of October the Young Rangers are in Sedbergh. We are working with Our Childrens Wood to carryout some much needed work at their tree nursery. We have a few spaces left, contact [email protected] if you would like to join us, parental consent form required, . Young Rangers is open to all 12 to 17 year olds. 10.45am till 1.30pm.

Last week our Young Rangers were joined by the Good Deeds Community Group from Leeds who helped remove several hundred metres of old damaged fencing and a large amount of buried black agricultural plastic from an ancient woodland site near Killington.

A big thank you to both groups for their hard work and to our Learning & Engagement team who arranged the activity.

Young Rangers from the Yorkshire Dales National Park and North York Moors National Park got stuck into some drystone walling, raft building and even geese herding at their residential gathering last week at Hazel Brow Farm in Swaledale.

Congratulations to our Apprentice Ranger Benji Grundy who was a runner-up at the Campaign for National Parks Park Protector Awards at the Palace of Westminster on Monday afternoon. Also congratulations to the Access & Engagement team for their work on our youth volunteering programme, which was also nominated.

Yesterday, Young Rangers visited Marrick Park Farm in Swaledale, where they got stuck into some woodland maintenance, and an egg hunt...and some egg rolling - oh and a campfire with hot dogs!
