248 Letchworth Squadron RAFAC

248 Letchworth Squadron RAFAC Based in Icknield Way, Letchworth Garden City, 248 Squadron is part of the RAF Air Cadet Organisation Ready for a challenge? Want real flight experience?

Better known as the 'Air Cadets', weโ€™re a UK-wide cadet force with more than 40,000 members aged between 13 and 20 years. We're sponsored by the Royal Air Force and can give you hands-on experience of activities and courses that will challenge and develop your skills to help you succeed in whatever you want to do. Air Training Corps - The ATC is the RAF's cadet force, divided into six regions, 36

wings and more than 900 squadrons within communities around the UK

Our aims are to:

Promote and encourage a practical interest in aviation and the Royal Air Force among young people

Provide training which will be useful in the Services and civilian life

Encourage the spirit of adventure and develop qualities of leadership and good citizenship

And there's one more important thing - it's a lot of fun! As a cadet you'll have the opportunity to do things that others only dream about. No problem. How about heading out on adventurous training and camps, sometimes overseas? Normal for cadets. Competitive sports, drill, shooting, music, abseiling, engineering projects? Our list of activities is long, varied and open to all cadets. Yes it's a challenge, but that's what life's all about. Come and see us, any Monday or Thursday 7pm - 9.30pm, just pop in - you're always welcome!

A great day out at RAF Benson. Cadets enjoyed an in depth tour round a Chinook hosted by 28 Sqn. A visit to ATC, the Fire Section and Station Ops. They also were hosted by JHSS (Joint Helicopter Support Squadron) and had a lot of fun putting various items in a big net pretending it was being hooked up to a Chinook ๐Ÿ˜

On 12th May we hosted a very special visit by AOC 22 Gp AVM โ€˜Cabโ€™ Townsend. The AOC talked to us about his insightful career in the RAF and his journey prior to joining the RAF. The cadets and staff found the talk very interesting and informative. Staff and cadets from 1066 (Hitchin) Sqn were also in attendance.
