Today pupils from Aith Junior High School have completed their Practice Expedition for their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award!

Participants were able to use the skills they have recently learned, including map work and camp craft, to safely navigate their walking route and set up camp.

All of the pupils did a fantastic job and are now all set for their assessed expedition at the end of the school term 🥾🏕️☀️

What a weekend!

Our MSYPs from Shetland had an incredible experience attending the SYP84 Summit in Stirling this past weekend.

The summit was jam-packed with opportunities, from debating and voting on motions to taking part in workshops and consultations on issues affecting young people across Scotland. It was a fantastic chance for our representatives to have their voices heard, learn from others, and contribute to shaping the future for young people.

One of the highlights of the weekend was meeting like-minded individuals from across the country, sharing experiences, building new friendships, and strengthening the network of young people passionate about making a difference in their communities.

Our MSYPs returned to Shetland inspired, motivated, and full of new ideas. We are incredibly proud of how they represented Shetland and engaged throughout the summit.

A huge well done to everyone involved, and thank you to the Scottish Youth Parliament for another fantastic event!

⛺️Duke of Edinburgh Expedition⛺️

Over the past few weeks, participants from Baltasound Junior High School and Mid Yell Junior High School took part in their practice and assessed Duke of Edinburgh expeditions.

These expeditions see the group following a pre planned walking route before cooking their meals and sleeping overnight at a campsite.

Well done to everyone involved and a special shout out to our youth worker Jamie, who showed great commitment even after stepping into a boggy puddle that came up to his waist whilst on the walking route (photo included 😁)
