We have many local publications available at the Mill. The fascinating Air Raid Islands: The Luftwaffe Over Shetland by local author, Samuel Sjoberg, provides an extensive account of the air war over Shetland during WW2.

Shetland's agricultural history, the historic photos shown below are from Quendale Mill's past brought to life with colourizing, why not pay a visit to the mill to see our displays of crofting and farming implements and tools from this bygone era.

We have hot and cold drinks and biscuits available and a small craft shop with lots of interesting items.

🔸National Mills Weekend🔸 - This coming weekend at the Quendale Water Mill when Zetland Amateur Radio Club will be contacting fellow enthusiasts at other mills around the world

National Mills Weekend runs every year in May. It has been organised by the SPAB Mills Section since 1984, and is part of a Europe-wide festival of milling heritage during May.
The Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB) was founded by William Morris in 1877 to care for and preserve the UK’s architectural heritage. The Mills Section of the SPAB was founded in 1931 to protect and promote windmills and watermills.

A warm welcome to all visitors this blustery, cold day. Hot drinks available and toilet facilities; and not forgetting the many interesting artifacts and displays we have within the water mill, Why not come along and see Shetland's agricultural history and heritage and not only mill history but other displays including footage of 'The Braer oil tanker grounding at Garthness that occurred January 1993.

Pop along for a cuppa, we have hot and cold drinks, biscuits and confectionary, our outdoor seating area is a nice spot to enjoy a cuppa. ☕️

We have a visitor information point with a large selection of leaflets covering all areas of Shetland and can advise on places of interest to visit, particularly the South Shetland Mainland.

The Quendale Mill is now open for the new season, 10am to 5pm, come along and see our displays of Shetland's agricultural history and heritage.

Our shop is well stocked with a wide and varied range of merchandise including Shetland knitwear, Shetland publications,
Greetings card, Arts/crafts items and souvenirs sourced locally wherever possible.

Hot and cold drinks, biscuits and confectionary.
