We're hiring a Grounds Operative on a 16-week fixed-term contract to help care for our parks and green spaces this summer.

Working alongside our Parks and Open Spaces Supervisor, you'll play an important role in maintaining our award-winning parks and open spaces, ensuring they remain welcoming, attractive, and enjoyable for everyone in the community.

If you enjoy working outdoors, take pride in delivering high-quality work, and like engaging with local residents, we'd love to hear from you.

📍 Fixed-term contract (16 weeks)
⏰ 37 hours per week
💷 £13.47 – £14.59 per hour

It's Great Big Green Week Market Day!

Join us today at Leighton Buzzard Market from 8:30am to 3:00pm for a day of sustainability, community action and family-friendly activities.

Come and meet local Green Champion organisations, discover environmental projects in the area, try our recycling game, add your pledge to the Eco Pledge Board and help name the Town Council's first electric vehicle.

You can also take a closer look at the council's new electric van and composter and chat with local groups working to create a greener future for our community.

Looking for free, local support to boost your wellbeing?

The Wellness Project is a new community initiative from The Rocci Tree and Leighton-Linslade Town Council, designed to help people improve both their physical and emotional wellbeing.

Funded by Be Active Beds and Sport England, the project offers free wellbeing classes and support for anyone who may find it difficult to access these services elsewhere.

Whether you're experiencing stress, loneliness, anxiety, low confidence, pain, or mobility challenges, you'll find a welcoming and supportive space close to home.

What you can expect:
• Free wellbeing classes and activities
• Beginner friendly sessions
• Local, accessible support
• A friendly community environment

A big thank you to the Church Riverside Cubs, who have been helping to look after the community garden in Parson's Close Recreation Ground.

The Cubs wanted to give something back to the local community, so they've been busy creating a beautiful flower display for everyone to enjoy.

As well as brightening up the park, they're also learning valuable gardening skills and helping care for a space used by so many local residents.

Next time you're in the park, take a moment to admire their hard work!

If you missed it, don't worry. We have a fantastic line-up of free concerts every Sunday right through to September.

This weekend, we're bringing you not one, but TWO performances on Sunday 14 June:

• Hemel Hempstead Band | Linslade Recreation Ground | 12:30pm to 2:30pm

• South Beds Concert Band | Parson's Close Recreation Ground | 3:00pm to 5:00pm
