Happy Easter! 🐰🐣

We’d like to say a massive thank you to the team at Toyota Material Handling Leicester for the generous donation of chocolate Easter eggs and Easter-themed craft kits for our children in care.

These goodies have been used as part of our annual Easter egg hunt for our children in care and their families, and have also been distributed to our recent care leavers, privately fostered children and some of the children and young people currently in care across Leicestershire 🩵

This week, we’re celebrating the LGBTQ+ individuals, couples and families who help give Leicestershire’s children and young people in care the love, safety and stability they deserve 💙

Within our fostering family, we’re proud to have:

⭐ 6 approved LGBTQ+ fostering households
⭐ 2 LGBTQ+ households currently moving through the fostering assessment process

With over 770 children and young people in care, we continue to face a real shortage of foster carers who can provide a safe and stable home. We’re searching for people who can provide real-life experience, tolerance and the ability to care with love, kindness and acceptance to find out more about fostering with us.

We often get asked questions about who is eligible for fostering, so we wanted to bust some myths and tell you a bit about us💭❓

For a long time, we've been committed to recruiting foster carers from diverse backgrounds and we're proud to welcome:

⭐ People aged 21 and over (with no upper age limit)
⭐ Single people, couples and families with birth children already living within the home
⭐ Renters and homeowners
⭐ Full and part-time workers, and people who do not work for any reason
⭐ People from any religion or ethnicity
⭐ People who identify as LGBTQ+
⭐ Pet owners

Our team works closely with applicants during our detailed assessment process, but none of the above factors will ever rule you out of fostering. More than anything, we look at your readiness to offer a safe, loving home to local children and young people, and what you’re able to offer them.

Short break fostering 💙

ℹ️ Short break foster carers offer a regular, enjoyable break for some of our children and young people for at least one weekend per month. Carers and families are carefully matched in order to build a supporting relationship based on the skills of our carers and the time they are available to look after young people.

Ideal for those who:
⭐ have experience and skills in looking after young people with physical, emotional or behavioural needs (for example, autism)
⭐ are eager to make a difference to young people but only have a few hours per month to offer

No matter your personal and family circumstances, we probably have a fostering type that suits you.
