* BIRSTALL, WANLIP & BROADNOOK ROUND UP *
๐ฎโโ๏ธ PC 1947 Dave & PCSO 6174 Jon (or Jonathan, apparently...) have been kept busy of late and as a consequence have had their visibility impacted by the wider picture occurring across the beat, nonetheless...
๐ Local policing teams are continuing to take action to tackle recent incidents affecting the Birstall community, including an ATM theft and ongoing anti-social behaviour.
๐ An investigation into the recent ATM theft in Birstall remains ongoing and is being handled by the forceโs Complex Investigations Unit. Officers are pursuing a number of enquiries and working with local partners to gather evidence and prevent further offences.
๐ In addition, there have been continued reports of youths riding motorcycles in an anti-social manner around Birstall. While several arrests have been made in connection with this behaviour, incidents are still occurring. Police have highlighted the ongoing difficulty in identifying those responsible, as many of the bikes involved are either stolen or have no registration plates. Offenders are also often wearing face coverings, making identification more challenging.
๐ The local beat team has been working closely with the Co-op following recent thefts, and this partnership has already led to positive action. One repeat offender has been arrested and placed under strict bail conditions, including being prohibited from entering the Birstall area.
๐ There has also been an increase in anti-social behaviour at the School Lane playing fields. Two recent incidents disrupted local cricket matches, causing concern among residents and sports groups. Police have confirmed that an arrest has been made in connection with these incidents, and the suspect remains on bail while investigations continue.
๐ Furthermore, despite information received from local residents courtesy of external social media platforms, we have received no official reports related to youths incurring physical injuries and believe a degree of scaremongering has been undertaken by unidentified persons wishing to stoke the fires of discontent exhibited on social media platforms.
๐ To address these concerns, neighbourhood officers will be increasing high-visibility patrols in key locations, including the playing fields and other identified hotspots. The aim is to deter further incidents, provide reassurance to the community, and respond swiftly to any reports.
๐ Residents are encouraged to report issues via 101, or anonymously through Crimestoppers, to support ongoing investigations and help keep Birstall safe.
