Leeds Girls Can

Leeds Girls Can We want the women and girls to feel comfortable in their own skin to get physically active, ignoring gender stereo types and have fun doing so!

Leeds Girls Can is part of the national This Girl Can campaign developed by Sport England together with a range of partners to encourage women to take part in sport. It is a celebration of women who are doing their thing and don’t care how they look or how red their face gets when playing sport. We want the women of Leeds to run, roll, move, pedal, swim and shoot for the netball hoop. If you want to try a new sport or get back into a sport that you previously loved now is the time!

The 47th annual Reclaim the Night march will be taking place on Friday 29th November 2024, from 7:00 PM to 9:15 PM.

There is an ever-increasing need for the voices of women and vulnerable groups to be heard. Violence in our homes, streets, workplaces, and places of education continues to rise, and we need to demand action.
This march is the place to use your voice - we want **EVERYONE** to feel heard and seen.

The event is open to everyone, but we ask all that attend to respect that we will be centring the voices and experiences of those most affected by gender-based violence.

Last year Active Leeds supported the Leeds Winter Coat Appeal, and Zero Waste Leeds were able to give out over 7,600 items of winter clothing to families for free. That saved people over £144,000 - money that stayed within the family budget and could be spent on other essentials.

This year we are proud to support them again and need your help. They are asking for donations of unwanted winter coats and fleeces (in baby, child and adult sizes), children's waterproofs and snowsuits, baby sleeping bags and pram footmuffs, hats, scarves and paired gloves (in all sizes). All they ask is that the items be clean, of good quality and have a functioning zip.

The last date for donations will be 31 January 2025.

Bag up your donations and drop off at one of the following sites:
